Watching your videos have inspired me to improve as a musician. At first I felt the need to quit playing because of how good you are. I'm really impressed with the phasing and articulation of the notes. Now it has become a habit to watch your videos after I get home from work and practice the licks. Your legato exercises has helped me in improving the strength of my left hand and it's coordination with my picking hand. I used to dislike legato but I now seem to understand the importance of that technique specially the muted legato. All I can say is thank you for being an awesome guitarist and for being so down-to-earth and humble. -A fan and a subscriber from the Philippines

I really loved the contrast in sound provided from the ascending economy picked bit in the middle, sounds so fluid and great at speed! I really need to work on producing that muted sound you do so well.

I wish Rick would break down what he is doing theory wise at 0:21 in the video. I see him do those type of runs in nearly every solo but I'm not sure what all is going on there. Played so quickly.

When doing hammers I do keep my fingers curled and use only the finger tips to strike the string, however, for pull-offs I find it necessary to allow the tip joints to collapse as it seems to allow the fingers to be more relaxed, especially the ring and the pinky which share a tendon. Not sure if this is technically correct, but if I play pull-offs with perfectly curled fingers and keep the tip joints tensed so they don’t collapse, my hand feels stiff and I have difficulty playing legato passages, especially those which involve ring and pinky… any ideas?

Okay, I am really putting in the work now after probably a decade of taking off from playing seriously (maybe two decades). I am playing songs I could never play before and playing with a speed and accuracy I could never have matched. So I decided to try this video and quickly realized how completely and hilariously inadequate I am.....WTF???
