What I like about Star Wars they were inspirations films by Akira Kurosawa.

As i recall Lucas and Spielberg funded a few of his movies later in his career

The best part, Lucas blended both eastern and western cultures and placed them into space just as well religion and science. The lore is so universal and so much to do.

There were a few other impacts Star Wars had at the time. It changed the way movies were edited. For the time, it was fast paced. Before Star Wars, a movie scene was much longer; drawn out. It also introduced world building in movie. Now, world building exists in books, such as Lord of the Rings. The Star Wars Trilogy created a road map for Film makers to do the same in film. Up until this point, sequels in film sucked. Star Wars also taught Hollywood how to create sequels. Star Wars toys also changed the toy industry.

If lucas made 32 billion in merch sales. Why would you sell sw for 4 bil. It doesnt make any sense.

Because the 32 billion is over the course of many many years. This is also GROSS profit not net. When selling a company they look at income vs debt, and potential income moving forward. Not how much you sold over 20+ years.
