As a MS patient, I lost 50% of my vision in my left eye when I was 29. I was a Rehab nurse at that time. My vision loss was diagnosed as optic neuritis and nothing was mentioned about MS but I had the hospital library look up the diagnosis. While sitting at the desk in charge of an 18 bed Rehab unit, I found out that I very likely had MS. It was a very big shock and as I was seeing my eye doctor daily, he got a rather blistering chewing out that day. That was over 30 yrs ago. I never stopped working during that first episode. Took high doses of steroids because this was before IV/IG infusions. I have multiple auto-immune diseases now. I was very lucky to get my vision back and the other MS symptoms have been tolerable. Having headaches from inflammation of the brain is not tolerable. Bless you, I will pray that you continue to improve. I, too, have much difficulty with activity intolerance. I used to drive all day at my hospice job but had an exacerbation of the MS which required me to stop working at the age of 49. God blessed me with 20 additional yrs of work after my first episode. You can do it!!!! Thank the Lord for each day and don't push yourself. I live an hour north of Jacksonville, FL.
@DownsizingMakesCents2 жыл бұрын
What an inspiration you are. Thank you for sharing your story. Though I’m sorry you had to go through so much. People with now diagnosed MOG were originally grouped under MS. That really scared me. But this IV/IG treatment has helped, along with steroids. But he’s only gotten one treatment- while in the hospital. Unfortunately, Blue Cross denied outpatient treatment. We are in the appeal process now. Wish us luck. And thank you again for reaching out and for the positivity 🤗
@lisastayman63922 жыл бұрын
@@DownsizingMakesCents - apply with the drug company too. I also didn't get any specific treatment for the MS because my insurance wouldn't have paid for it. I didn't get a diagnosis for the MS until I was 49 because at that time (back in the 90's), I wouldn't have been able to get any insurance if I changed jobs. UF Health may have something to help too. Check with your social services department. If nothing else, he can go on disability and Medicare will pay for it.

New subscriber here, thank you for this video. So sorry about your health problems, Larry, it can't be easy. Hope you are on the mend. To get pine tar off your RV, use alcohol hand gel. It works, make sure it's the gell because alcohol evaporates too fast to work. Just a tip in case that's your RV under the pine trees in the video. The pine trees in Florida will pee sap drops when it's hot.

I can see the convenience of staying at places near major roads - but not for months. We never use dog parks because they tend not to be maintained and full of fleas and 💩 😩 Thanks for checking it out - private parks aren’t are thing and we hope to be back at state parks again soon 🤗

By the way you are about half way between the gulf (Cedar Key) and the Atlantic (St Augustine) Both are great places to visit. I was living there when my wife passed, That was in 2000. There is not great camping close to Gainesville which is pretty shocking considering all the reasons someone would want to camp here. O'Leno would be my pick but they might have 14 max stay--not sure. I agree with most comments. You would have been shocked at how long it actually would have taken to get to UF from Williston. Ocala North I like but depends a lot also on horse show schedule, same for the World Equestrian Center. Waldo is actually super fast into UF and the VA bus travels down 301 dropping Vets off at UF form north 301 areas. I would look at the motocross schedule, I think they don't run all the time there, I think it has a season.

@@Brockdorf Soren, in Alachua county, there is an extra tax at the new campground- we will talk about that place in another video. Maybe that’s why Santa Fe is the first private campground in that county. If you want a month stay, you pretty much have to book a private campground, unfortunately That’s a great point looking into schedules of events - that’s why it’s pretty hard to get a month stay at Sante Fe because of weekends taken up for UF football games. We were so lucky to find Floridian RV in Bronson - that’s the place we did our Crunch Series and was our “homeport” What we really need is a homebase - we have had so many emergencies since we went full time. Our own land would have really helped. We are still looking. Thanks for all your great points. We appreciate it Alice

Wow. I had no idea? It’s a shame. We miss being full time RV travelers vs RV livers. Once Larry gets his health under control and we know insurance will pay for his treatments, we plan on moving again. I’m sorry to hear that so many people are just “living” in RVs out of necessity instead of traveling and enjoying what they are actually meant for. That’s why state parks are preferred here - you can only stay for two weeks
