Pick up your animals poop! And if you poop either bury it 6 inches deep or more or pick it up! Another KZbinr I follow, has a dog and ended up eating human poop, and that human had taken shrooms or something and it ended up affecting her dog and she was so scared😢

Rule #3 / #4 - I love my dogs off leash too, but after being in a bunch of pristine boondocking spots that were sadly covered in dog poop, I've started keeping mine on long leashes even if there aren't other dogs around. That way I can be 100% sure I've picked up EVERYTHING. Please pick up (which means you have to notice them pooping) - it ruins gorgeous places for the next visitors if you don't.

Here's what I did when the stink bugs invaded our RV. Got a pump sprayer with a good amount of dawn dish soap and just a very small amount of bleach. Sprayed the entire RV outside , top, bottom, sides and slides, around windows and doors. Rinse thoroughly. Stink bugs are following scent trails left by ones before them, doing the soap and bleach and rinse will remove or mask the trail. Before we were getting dozens a day in the RV, once I sprayed the numbers reduced immediately and by 7 days we had zero stink bugs. Be extra generous around slides that's where they were coming in mostly. Do this anytime you see stink bugs. Simple and cheap problem solver.

I adopted an 11 year old Jack Russell and he wasn't good with any other animal. A lady in a park had her German Sheppard dog off leash and it ran up to my dog. I Immediately picked up my dog and held her high over top of her dog. All she said is "My dog is good with other dogs"/ I let her know "Mine isn't and that is why he is on a leash". She didn't get it!
@wildrvlife Жыл бұрын
Right! Our dogs will do fine around other dogs, but can get a little funny about being on a leash when another dog is running around them off leash,...so it always makes me nervous when that happens. sometimes I wish I could just pick them up easily too 😄

They never do! We saw a man walking his German Sheppard off leash BUT CARRYING THE LEASH IN HIS HAND. It's just crazy to me how people think nothing will happen because 'my dog is good'. What if you need to get your 'good' dog away from another animal? Crazy.

What I hate about boondocking is when you're parked in the middle of nowhere with no one around and then someone else arrives and parks 20 feet away from your RV. I've parked in the middle of nowhere left my RV and went shopping with my towed car came back a few hours later and and found two RVs parked within 20ft of my RV despite there being lots of parking farther away. I quickly packed up and was getting ready to leave. One of the men from the other RV asked me if this place was good. I told him that I'd only arrived a few hours earlier but since you arrived and parked next door I was going to leave now. I told him I like to boondock to get away from people. He was offended that I'd leave just because they parked so close.

I get so much push back when I talk about solar being almost useless on the East Coast. Out west there is just so much more open space and fewer trees that solar works far better. I always say solar is great when the sun shines!!! And I was in western NC a few weeks ago and the stink bugs were awful. I’m still finding them coming out of the crevices! I was in the same campground, same time last year with no stink bugs so this must be a great year for them.

Different public lands have different rules on where you can put your rig and often limit how far off the road you can go. This is the hardest thing for us to sometimes figure out without a stop at the forest office where we want to boondocks. The apps are helpful but not always accurate.

Hey guys, my views differ. In my book boondocking is 100% free. If you pay for the site with no water or power nothing, Well in my book that’s primitive camping. If you are in any type of campgrounds it’s not boondocking. If your in your friends driveway that’s moochdocking. Also in my book if your at Walmart or cracker Barrel that’s also a type of moochdocking. Now we open a new can of worms Harvest Hosts, no hookups but you pay for a membership, and it’s a custom to spend money at the site, not boondocking ! So boondocking versus Dry camping ? Go !

@wildrvlife Жыл бұрын
Well, basically what we did was use the bath house for the remainder of our time at that campground, and then we headed south until our tanks thawed lol. We had been using a heat lamp and making sure our furnace was running which served us well down into the 20s, but we had some days in the single digits and that was just more than they could withstand. However, some rigs have tank heaters (our new one does!) which can really help to prevent that from ever happening.

Hey you two, found your channel thru Kyle and Michelle (The Wandering Shores) and have been enjoying your journey. That said, I may just be a grumpy old man, but your use of the term "boondocking" (and its not just you, but many young....youtubers) seems to be that anytime your camping without hookups your "boondocking", that is not what the term was meant to define. "Boondocking" was a term coined back in the early 2000s by Bob Livingston, who at the time was an editor with Trailer Life Magazine. Bob coined the term as a way of defining RV camping in dispersed areas...i.e....."out in the boonies" (hence the root word...boonies". So if your camped in a developed campground...even if you have no hookups, your not "boondocking" your "dry camping". It kind of drives me a little crazy when youtubers indicated they "boondocked at walmart...or cracker barrel." as that would be "lot docking" not boondocking. And when they state that they boondocked at a campground. In any event, I know that there is no way I am going to be able to stop the word from being used incorrectly, but hey, its my hope that with up and coming youtubers such as yourself, you may be able to educate the masses. Take care and safe travels!!! Sean

Lol, oh we were in the boonies alright. Have you been to Davis, West Virginia before? 🤣🤣 But no, we don’t ever “count” overnights at places like Walmart as boondocking either. We actually had a whole conversation about that in a different video. Thanks for watching & the support!

The reason I brought it up as you mentioned and showed going to a campground to "boondock", paying $20.00 a night, but still saving money as you were camping in their field. In any event. Safe travels you two! @@wildrvlife

I don't have solar but I only use the generator when cooking dinner for the electric skillet. By then the battery's are charged. I use 2 6 volt gulf cart battery's to equal 12 ⚡️ volts.

What’s the best way to find potable water? We have horribly hard water on our ranch and don’t want to fill our rv with it before we take off. If we’re not at a full hookup situation I’m new enough to all this to not know where to get water. Enjoy your content. Thanks!
@wildrvlife Жыл бұрын
We usually use iOverlander (an app) for finding places with water (they have a filter for water). But, most dump stations at truck stops like Loves, etc. will have potable water that you can use. Maverick gas stations are another good one that almost always have potable water and sometimes free dump stations!

Massive size unit.. wonder why with No kids and moving a lot. If it was stationary then makes sense as a tiny home. I know To each their own but wonder why? I rent my house so I am in my 18ft trailer a fait bit. Now 18 might be little small for Two but I will find out this year with my new wife and even going to build out a 14ft cargo into a camper..

With working a full-time job, we needed a separate room for calls. Also no land to utilize for build out. The brinkley has been a very good decision so far but we will be putting it to the test this year.

Why would anyone want to camp right next to a stranger if there’s room not to. I’ll run my generator when needed period. I agree with the never arrive after dark. I made that mistake when I had a pop up setting it up when everyone was asleep I made so much noise people must have been cussing me out like no one’s business not to mention it’s hard backing up in the dark.

As someone watching to learn about RVing. Don't you need to keep the lights on around your RV for safety purposes and prevent thefts of your belongings. I ask sincerely to learn not argue. Without lights on would you offer other advice. For safety/or antitheft.
@wildrvlife6 ай бұрын
Great question. Most likely, the lights won't prevent theft, but a lot of people do motion sensor light, and some new rvs come with these lights, typically called scare light. While boondocking, if it feels a bit sketchy, I would not leave anything out overnight.
@tonyawarren12496 ай бұрын
@@wildrvlife Thank you for your advice. I was figuring for our Harley. Now my husband will really argue to sacrifice my extra kitchen for his toy hauler. ;)
@TrexelCat3 ай бұрын
@@tonyawarren1249 To expand on that. Having your lights on constantly will actually deter theft less. As most thieves will scout things out before hand. If they see your lights are on 24/7, with or without you being there, then there is no fear of the light. And actually makes it easier for them to steal things as you are lighting things up for them to see. "Scare lights" are good because they turn on when there is motion within their detection. And if you have neighbors, this alerts everyone in the area that someone, or something is moving around over there. And no matter how "too yourself" you are, you are going to look. Which adds to the security as more eyes means less ability to hide. A lot of time, people who leave their lights on 24/7, do so because they have a rudimentary camera system in place(yes, even in RVs). And cameras are notoriously bad in the dark. An alternative investment however for these systems would be IR floodlights. Even the worst cameras can see in IR. Invisible to human eyes, provides ample lighting for camera systems, no matter how rudimentary they are. Really cheap to get off Amazon. Your neighbors will thank you. The military actually use a setup like that for night missions and traveling. No visible light, but NVGs(cameras) can see as though it were day. Nothing is ever 100% safe. So I would add that second layer of IR lighting and a camera that can watch over things. You may not be able to stop them, but you can make it hard to get away with it if you have video to show the police. Scare lighting, IR lighting and a cheap HD camera. Upgrade as needed.

Nice video! My major pet peeve of the list that you posted is generators! Our 1st time boondocking in our newly purchased used 2019 Flagstaff E-Pro 19BH (20 Feet) was at a Cracker Barrell and when we pulled in, we had the misfortune of parking right next to someone that had their generator running (it was about 8PM). The spaces were kind of tight and the exhaust from the generator was overwhelming; we had to move to another area of the parking lot. They ran their generator for what seemed to be all night and other RV's parked next to them and eventually moved also. After that experience, my first modification was to upgrade our batteries to 400AH Lithium. We have a small 100 watt solar panel and even during our longest time boondocking, we stayed for 5 days and our state of charge never dropped below 70%. We don't even own a generator.
@BeanCruisers Жыл бұрын
That must have been frustrating. We don't have a generator, but that hasn't stopped us. You won't believe where we have been able to go without one. 👍

I don't understand why you're waiting on charging your batteries with a solar panel. When you got the truck 20 ft away and several hour drive ahead of you?? Am I missing something here?
@wildrvlife Жыл бұрын
Need the batteries to bring the slides in. Typically, you want a fully charged onboard battery to operate the slide per the owners manual.
@AlexBeckleysRVs Жыл бұрын
@@wildrvlife that is correct however when you plug into the running truck, there's more than enough amperage to operate your slides. During that time the truck battery alternator and Coach battery Are All One system.
