That 210 gallon tank upstairs, try and cover your cement blocks in moss. It will make it very natural looking and really make it pop brighter. Get a good bit of moss and put it into a blender. Then paint the moss onto the blocks and loosely wrap the blocks in cling film. Evey day spray tank water onto the blocks until you get a nice covering before putting them back into the tank. It might take 4/5 weeks 👌

I ended up taking them out, I have them in a 75 gallon tank and the smaller tank allows algae to grow on them better so they are turning green which looks great

You could put that turtle in the pond now. I have the same turtles that have been living in a pond for years and they winter over really well. I wouldn't worry about the size for the winter. I would be more concerned that your pond is enclosed and that there aren't any little spaces he can squeeze out. Because given the land they will explore and possibly get out. Great video!
@dwsdarius8 ай бұрын
Thank you, yes I've overwintered turtles in my pond before I just thought a youngster like mine would need other turtles to lead him. Besides that my pond definitely is not turtle proof so I'll work on that by spring

@@dwsdariuslook into the genus Pseudacanthicus. They are much larger and less shy. Their diet would match your other fish more closely also, carnivores.

I have a dovii and a Jag ..i cant even imagine your hybrid's personality ...what's it like cleaning his tank ??..and do you see the Dovii IQ. Come out..??...great video brother ...keep them comming!!
@dwsdarius9 ай бұрын
Thanks, so he has the shape of a dovii, the color of a jaguar, his size is smaller than a dovii more like a jaguar. He's super territorial but he won't attack my hand in the tank. He's always reaching out the aquarium grabbing the eggcrate above the tank and parts of the filter, I'd say he has that dovii IQ

Yes that would be a more suitable long term tank mate for the fish

To fix the 800 gallon light/plant situation you just need some sort of cover around it like a faux wall going around the front and the sides. King of DIY has one that looks like bricks idk if it’s just styrofoam or what. idk if you’ve seen it before.

That 880 is so cool dude. How hard was it to build? Assuming it’s a plywood tank?
@dwsdarius9 ай бұрын
It wasn't that hard actually, but of course its nerve wrecking being my first diy tank. There are so many tutorial videos just find one that you like and follow the instructions. My video is by no means a tutorial, but this was the process kzbin.info/www/bejne/g4XKkGmdh8lnjq8

Really nice tanks you're fish are very awesome too. Those peacocks are hugh i love peacocks but they get so big i believe you need massive tanks to properly keep them. I have 12 tanks mostly african peas and haps some tropheus tanks and a few planted tanks. As you know it takes alot of energy to take care of a fish room and im 66 now and cannot really do to much more than im doing although i do have some larger tanks coming in the future. In 2020 i had a heart attack and lost half my heart but i still work everyday and take care of my fish and just got a new puppy because i lost my Rocky in dec of 23. I had to laugh when you have a rocky too. Well just a little bit about me. I've seen you're video's in the past and really enjoy them. Looking forward to all you do in 24. Take care and god bless fellow fish keeper!

Thank you! I'm trying to find ways to make tanks require less maintenance. The answer is plants, terrestrial plants for my cichlid tanks and finding that perfect balance. Some of my tanks I can almost get away with no water changes. I'm just trying to figure how many plants, or what type of plants will keep up with the bioload in my larger tanks

Red ear sliders do not do well below 60 degrees they like to stay in that 70° range they don't do winters, they develop skin and shell sores and will eventually parish..
