A look at the two new Bowie releases that have just come through my door.

Hi Richard, great to see you're still making these videos among your Complete Collection ones - not that I'm not enjoying those! This release, for me is just so good to see, having become a Bowie fan - & still my favourite musical hero - in 1972. It all started with Ziggy for me. I'm sure I'd heard "So long '60s' before on an "Arnold Corns" bootleg many years ago - obviously an early Moonage Daydream demo. I've not yet listened to it all (on Spotify - can't afford to buy it!), but for me disc 5 is the beauty - I love It's Gonna Rain Again -, a song I'd never even heard of, - a Bo Diddley rip off, yes, but great. And I never knew Looking for a Friend had been recorded as a Ziggy session, nor Holy Holy. Always great to hear versions of the wonderful Velvet Goldmine, and equally wonderful Supermen. Many thanks!

It is great to hear all the demos and outtakes, especially as there are a couple that you didn't know existed.

Excellent review Richard. Just like you I held back a bit, but what’s the point I was always going to get it! Beautiful boxset! Mike

That looks a great set from a fabulous period of Bowies' career. I may get the ' Rock n Roll Star ' LP.

Hi Richard!! Well done and the boxset looks prettu cool to me. Btw It's always nice to get more stuff from one of your favorite artist, but with this postumous releases it makes me wonder if the artist, in this case Bowie, would be ok with the release of this material.... cheers and be well

Hi Pasi, I believe he sanctioned a lot of this material before he died.

I got mine yesterday, no chance of listening to it yet as I've bought so much lately it'll have to take its turn. No interest in vinyl, was so glad to see the back of it in the 80s. Although I do still have a couple of hundred from the 70s, mostly prog. Apart from the artwork, I'll never understand why anyone would buy vinyl nowadays. Still each to his own

I've only listened to the first disc and they are all acoustic demos. Interesting if not spectacular.

My mate's a vinyl enthusiast - it sounds great, but he has to get out of his chair every 18 mins to turn the record over, misses out on all the rare tracks, outtakes, demos & live versions you get on CDs, and he's stony broke.

I had the one lp pre-ordered. I haven't got confirmation of it's arrival and looking at the stores' pages it appears all upcoming releases have been deleted. I'm afraid the shop has financial problems and they haven't been able to get anything. I'll go there on monday and see myself. Pasi

That's a shame about the store Pasi.
