I will never forget the day when I first visited New York and stepped outside Port Authority. It felt like another world.

Good to see again. Worked there summers. In the sub basement. Giving people phone directions on bus lines. 1972 - 1974.

I’m from Spain and while I was visiting NYC I was hosted in a hotel called Yotel and I could see this terminal straight from the window of my room. It’s crazy how in any moment I was looking at it there was at least one bus going through any of the ramps. I even woke up at 3am, 4am, and 5am because of the jet lag and there were the buses going up and down.

We used to stop there in the 70s on way from Pennsylvania to my relatives in Co-op city. The Port Authority building was intimidating but Black-and-white cookies at its bakery was so awesome.

Anyone got any links to footage of this place back in 70s era?

Mexico City is probably the farthest place you can reach directly from this huge bus station.

Este Terminal Rodoviário de Nova York está na frente em tamanho do Terminal Rodoviário do Tietê em São Paulo.

Is there street parking close to it? I plan on visiting in a couple months & I have no clue where I’m getting picked up at & it wouldn’t make sense for them to pay cause it’s a quick pick up & it’ll be late when I arrive so I wouldn’t wanna walk too far by myself at night.
