Remembering 60 years since Vatican II, EWTN News Contributor Catherine Hadro breaks down the council's 16 key documents and what they reveal. The 16 documents from the Second Vatican Council are broken into three different sections: there are the Constitutions, the Declarations, and the Decrees. All documents can be read online a the Vatican's website. The four of them that have the name Constitution are the fundamental documents and are like the four pillars of the Council. The other 12 documents are the Declarations and Decrees. Decrees are formal teachings that want something to be done. There's a Decree on Ecumenism and a Decree on the Renewal of Religious Life. The Declarations are other statements that are simply recognizing something very important, such as making a declaration about religious liberty.
