I got a 6 inch Rupes. Excellent work on the Impala. Impala’s are my favorite car! My grandparents had a 73 Impala which still runs to this this day. My parents also have an an Impala. Would love to have those pads to use with my polisher.

Thanks. My dad had a 65 Impala when I was a kid. He wants to buy another one already fixed up. He tells me he saw one on Mecham that he wanted and I told him just buy it lol. Hit me up. You were the first to respond about the pad. My email is in the description

Thanks for reviewing this liquid polish and waffle pad. I have a Lake Country pad washer so I will probably order the polish and a couple waffle pads to try them out. Never used a waffle pad so I'm interested in using it on a couple vehicles.
@MikeGDetailing Жыл бұрын
The waffle pad glides on the surface. Seems to handle contours better.

I was hesitant at first, but I really need to get my hands on some of their products and give them a try. That 6" pad would work great on my Milwaukee polisher (I currently only have RUPES pads). I'm definitely interested in their 5 and 8 year coatings. I'll be coating my own vehicle and my wife's here in the next couple months...and I'm struggling to decide which route to take. I need to pick two of the following: CSL/EXO V5, Diamond Body 36, Legend (topped with Defender) or one of the DIY Detail coatings. Looking forward to seeing more videos on them from you and others.
@orthodox1717 Жыл бұрын
CSL has been less than impressive, at least for me. Haven’t tried the others you mentioned. I wouldn’t hesitate to use DIY.
@MikeGDetailing Жыл бұрын
Here’s my take on the coatings you mentioned. These are my experience with them. Skip CSL/Exo. There are much better options. CSL by itself is nothing special. It needs Exo for hydrophobic behavior. I don’t plan to try Exo V5 but V4 was not good. A step backwards from V3. The only benefit is that V5 is now one layer. Legend is not easy to work with. Quick flash time. It will make you work for it. If you miss a high spot you will be polishing it off. It sets up pretty quick. DB36 has a longer flash time. it can be tricky at first to get it right. Don’t let the TRC boys fool you on it being slick. None of the Diamond Protech coatings are slick other than PPF. And don’t top it with Diamond quick body. It will diminish the hydrophobic’s. Diamond Protech needs to tweak it to have better or close to the actual coating. I would either go with a DIY coating or DB36.

@@MikeGDetailing thanks for the input/feedback. I did CSL/EXOV4 for a buddy two years ago. Surprisingly it still seems to be doing pretty well after two MN winters. Word is that DPT is tweaking formulas. Apparently Diamond Body is pretty good now, but DB36 is still a work in progress. Apparently they clog pretty quickly. I'm a little concerned that those issues weren't resolved before release...makes me want to give them some more time to figure that out. I'm thinking I might use my wife's car and a car of my in-laws for some personal testing.
@MikeGDetailing Жыл бұрын
@@jeffc6832 yeah that clogging has been mentioned. But with a decon it comes right back. Jamie the cleaner has a good video showing that. Another coating you may want to consider is Armour Detail Supply. I just used their pro coating and the consumer one uses the same chemistry. Slick coating as well. I’m working on my videos.

I like my Lake Country pad washer. Not so much for cleaning in between panels, as I use 8-10 pads, but for afterwards cleaning.

This entire system is money. I’ve used the 5inch pads, the 3inch pads on my PXE-80, and even used the Purple Wool pads on both sized machines. Using along with the Pad Washer while polishing has helped speed up my correction speed while keeping the need of more than 3 pads at one time low. This easily takes the cake of the easiest polishing system. Especially the way the waffle pad glides over minor valleys and ridges
@MikeGDetailing Жыл бұрын
Thanks for the feedback. If I adopted this system as my primary polishing product I would invest in the pad washer. It would pay for itself and less pads to clean at the end.

Great video as always Mike! Your Impala’s paint is impeccable. I would love to take you up on that offer for that 6” Gold Waffle pad. My backing plate is 6” and I only have a single orange Lake Country pad so having this additional pad to try and use would be amazing. Let me know how I can get you my information. Thank you!

Guz, I'd like to take some slight rids in my car but it's coated w/Gyeon Pure EVO. Can I use this or my Optimum spray polish by hand w/o hurting my coating? The car looks good and maybe I'm chasing perfection but I'm sure you understand😇
@MikeGDetailing Жыл бұрын
Anything abrasive will degrade the coating even by hand. If you don’t want to re-coat them love with them. It’s a daily driver and I know that we all want them to look perfect 🙂. I would say try CarPro Essence Plus as it will fill. The only thing is I don’t like the hydrophobic’s of Essence Plus. But you could top it with something else.

@Mike G thanks Guz, I might just wait a year and do a light polish and recoat🤔 I'm really liking Gyeon Pure EVO, although topped with many sprays and Bilt-Hamber pre-washes over the winter and multiple touch-free washes a week since last July, plus 2BM's, I'm happy with the self-cleaning and gloss of this coating 😇

Mike, What's your take on using the DIY polish with a Flex 3401 Direct drive w/ 6 inch backing plate? BTW, car looks very swirl free!

Hey. Mike I’m looking to gloss enhance, may be remove oxidation on my soft painted Tesla in order to coat it with gyeon pure evo, but unable to decide on the polishing system, what are your views on following options, for a beginner 1) DIY Detail gold standard polish with red jeweling pad in speed 1 ( rotary) 2) car pro essence + diy detail jeweling pad or rupes black pad or car pro gloss pad. 3) gyeon primer with yellow waffle pad or yellow rupes, I just don’t want to cut the paint, as it soft and there is no scratch or swirl marks as the car is new (3 months old). If I skip polish, will gyeon pure evo bonds with the surface. Looking for your guidance!
@MikeGDetailing6 ай бұрын
Since you are using Gyeon Pure I would not use Essence. I don’t know how many times I heard of other coatings failing with Essence. I would stick with either DIY Detail Gold Standard or Gyeon Primer. If you use Primer I would still recommend to still do a panel wipe. I would personally reach for DIY GSP, panel wipe and coat.

Hi Mike, how was your experience polishing the glass with the Gold Standard compound and polish?

I had no issues using it. Wiped off nicely with and without a rinseless dampened towel. A good polish to use to prep for a glass coating or glass sealant.

I don't see the big deal about the polish being in a spray bottle. I actually bought some of this stuff and it wasn't any better than Griots or Meguiars.
@MikeGDetailing Жыл бұрын
It’s not for everyone. Less product consumed per spray and no guess work on putting 3, 4 dots and being pea sized. One pull of the trigger and done. Meguiar’s compounds tend to be dusty. Their polishes are fine though. Griots has a funky chemical smell. I had someone send me sample bottles before and they ended up in the trash. Fast correcting cream is the best product.

A spray polisher should make polishing a bit quicker.
