Apparently, Network Rail's official policy (as of 2013, at least) is as follows: We do not actively prohibit any photography or filming at our managed stations for personal use, providing it is done safely and securely.

Thank you for all the kind comments on the video, folks. As much as I'm making light of what happened in the video, I am still really angry about it. Being confronted out of nowhere, kicked out & threatened with the British Transport Police - FOR VLOGGING - was very uncomfortable & upsetting. ESPECIALLY as an autistic person like myself. Confrontation can be very tough for me to deal with, and it's triggered a number of anxiety attacks that I'm still feeling now many hours after the incident. Fact is, no-one should be made to feel like this while out on the railways, especially at their home station which they use regularly - as Swanley is for me. And to be clear, nothing I was doing was illegal or even contravened Network Rail's own guidelines for filming or taking photos on stations. I wasn't getting in anyone's way, I was being respectful and courteous, and was in fact filming on a public right of way - the station entrance and footbridge are used as a pedestrian walkthrough. To argue that filming at any station, full stop, is illegal 'because of terrorism' is absolutely 100% false. Once again, thanks for all the messages of support. It'll take more than one staffer having a bad day to put me off making videos ^_^

But I'm like that sometimes when someone just shouts at me I just freeze and can't think of anything, I do hate it when it catches me off-guard. Sadly there stations in London which saying it is illegal to film and do say 'terrorist' related, that happened to me once at Anerley Station, they didn't want me filming there and due to terrorist and threaten to call the police, So just carried on filming and nothing happened. Great video and might want to visit Swanley Station now lol

Hi, great you got an upgraded station, my local station in Medway is getting an upgrade with a new footbridge and lifts. About your experience about member of staff, I understand, staff at my station are frustrating me, at my local station, Southeastern and the btp collectivly have 20 members of staff at the same time at Chatham, and are just having ahi a people for no reason, for example a relative of mine just came out of hospital and had a massive plaster on his head, and on the way home, staff were being igronant and keep asking about the valid train ticket he showed them, they kept asking about it and also the reasons why they have 20 members of staff is due to fare dodging, which is fare enough, but they are being igronant to people with valid train tickets,

Very nice to see a new station building at Swanley. Sounds like Network Rail & Southeastern have done a lot of amazing improvements including the lifts that makes the station step-free accessible. And of course Southeastern is to become SE Trains from the 17th October. And what about the Class 707 City Beam trains which you should do a video of these trains. Plus (4:40) that station staff that gave you a telling off for filming inside the station should be sacked.
@HeyItsAJOmega3 жыл бұрын
Yes indeed! Didn't get to mention the accessibility improvements, step-free access from the car park to the footbridge, and the lifts down to platform level. All great! And I'll try and get out and ride the Class 707s, they won't be visiting Swanley unfortunately but will be passing nearby!

Great to See a local station to me being upgraded, just need my actually local to be upgraded as they have promised nice things for years and have not seen it. I heard that the typical terrorist is a George Russell fan! That terrorism thing is stupid. Isn't it obvious that you will cause no harm due to being familiar with trains and knowing how to be safe at stations? If it was illegal to film at stations, especially on the SE network, I would have broken the law many times, especially when I was talking to the staff about Train SImulator at Cannon Street! I like how many people complain about kids not going out and spending too long on computers, but then we get told our perfectly safe hobby is illegal, and that the police will be called, it's just safer to stay at home! Ironic thing is is that they probably have a camera on them at the station - their phone.
