Apart from reforming the political parties, I also feel we must change our electoral system for the better by replacing FPTP (House) & SNTV (Senate) with MMP (House) & STV+OPV (Senate). A fair electoral system goes hand-in-hand with better political parties.

There should be a law that disqualifies anyone with another job (actor, boxer, etc) to run for office. Public service needs to be a full-time job. Same with full-time Lawyers, doctors, cops who run for office.

The current system does not encourage parties to be a consistent. It encourages jumping-ship. Especially after presidential elections, because of self-interest. A lot of you will say, “What about America?” They have political maturity, the PH does not, made worse by oligarchs and the closed economy. PH parties are only election-money vehicles. Parliamentarianism will help in making parties effective. And for “some people”, it makes it easier to “oust” the executive (PM).

*mas maganda kung two-party system with pre-election primaries kagaya sa America. Yung two-party system natin before martial law wala naman yung pre-election primaries. Nuong panahon na yun NP and LP determine their presidential candidates via party caucuses only, walang participation ang taongbayan, mas maganda yung sistema sa America na may pre-election primaries. Kung mag-two-party system tayo with pre-election primaries it's like hitting two birds in one stone, with that kind of set-up para na din tayong nag-multi-party system and two-party system at the same time. The best part is -- ang mananalong presidente will surely get more than 50% of the total number of votes cast, so hindi cia magiging minority president kagaya ng nangyari sa pilipinas after 1986.*

We should go back to 2 party system to avoid turncoatism. Candidates and politicians should follow their party's idealism and serve people and not the standard bearer!

Mali ku, nakita mo ba sa America ang dynasty, noon 2 party system pa tayo, halos walang nakaupong kamag anak sa lahat na lgu's, pero nang pinalitan n cory ang ating constitution n 1987,ayon nang umpisa na, tatay, anak, asawa, balik sa tatay, anak asawa, kapatid, like n makati, and almost all lgu's are controlled by kamag anak.. At kong gusto mong mag presidente, gagawa lang partido ku na official candidate, at mga politico palipat lipat nang partido, yan ang resulta, c ordinaryong Juan dela cruz wala nang pag asa na magiging leader, kahit matatalino ku, maging alalay nlang sa mga dynastiya. Noon bago ku magiging candidates, dumaan sa rigid na qualification at selection process at election. Bago ihalal na official candidates nang partido..

The problem with our political parties is it is a popularity with no grassroots. What I mean by this is people does not feel involved with whats going on in the parties, unlike Singapore where the constituents is also part of the party at a local level.

Di na po kaya yan, Lakas na sigurado ang magiging main party, sila palang ang partido na nakapag-paupo ng dalawang presidente, dalawang vp, at nakapag-paupo kay Duterte nung 2016. Sigurado pangatlong presidente ng Lakas si Sara.

​@@AHandful It's quite tricky. Lakas is the largest party right now in the House pero ang pangulo is PFP. There's no sign either na lilipat yung mga Lakas reps sa PFP since Romualdez (BBM's cousin) was a diehard Lakas member. Add to the fact na NPC ang largest majority party sa senate right now.
