Totally true. And they did it in all of their games with the explanation of New Gen graphics improvement/shortage of content. They did that since PS1 to PS2 jump. Just check out NHL 01, PS2 look amazing, but PS1 was richier in details, better physics, better game modes and, funnier! Same with Fifa 01 (more stadiums), with NBA 01 (more solo modes), Madden (better physics, better responsive crowds), etc. Great to see you outside your channel Mr. Softdrink 👍

There has to be another reason why they destroyed Career and Franchise mode after the PS2 era. Once the 2k competition was eliminated, EA has been slowly downgrading the singleplayer modes ever since.

My teenage years was PS2 Madden. Man I remember being excited to see what Madden had in store for us on next gen (PS3) because Madden on PS2 was the 🐐 and we thought it only goes up from here. I have a theory. NFL 2k4 is very similar to 2k5. 2k5 was the better game no doubt but it probably didnt hurt 2k to just touch up 2k4 and repackage it as 2k5, especially since the next round of consoles were around the corner with the 360 in 2005 and ps3 in 2006. But sadly it was the start of the end for 2k.

From 03 to 07 those were some of the best years for madden. Great video. EA should definitely take a look back at previous titles for improvement. Bring back training camp, Owner mode with the Tony Bruno show, signature running styles for RB's.

Golden era for Madden NFL. 07 had the greatest franchise mode in Madden history and 05 was the most complete Madden all together. It’s a shame they have yet to surpass these Maddens on PS2.

In my opinion, it's pathetic that we as consumer's continue to let games like Madden get worse and worse. Now I can't truly speak on the quality of the games because I haven't purchased a Madden since 2008, but I've played them and watched plenty of videos in the last 9 years to know that EA is not putting their best foot forwards like they used to. The PS2 Madden's were some of the greatest games of that generation. To see how smooth the gameplay was back then to what it has become currently is pretty eye opening, imo. I truly believe EA getting the exclusivity license from the NFL destroyed football gaming. I just wish people knew how to speak with their wallets in the sports gaming industry. EA will listen if enough people don't like something (see Star Wars BF II this year with their crate system). But it just comes down to people actually having self control to say they're not going to buy the game if they don't like the direction it's going.

I remember playing the games from the 03-06 version of the series on the PS2. I was young when I played them and might make some mess up here and there when I play the game but it was a blast playing them, heck I just bought Madden '07 Hall of Fame edition for the PS2 recently and I'm having a blast playing it on my old PS2 again.

But I love if you would do a video exploring the exported draft classes from NCAA Football to Madden and walk us through the college all-star game through the NFL combine plus the draft. I haven't played to many maddens on the ps2! I always bought them for GameCube I really enjoy all the madden I played on GameCube and ps2! I never liked the next gen versions (360-PS3) the game play mechanics were awful. I have most of the maddens on ps2 now since in a collector. They are awesome! Love your channel! Love this vid. New sub for this vid alone. And madden 2006 was my game! I STILL run a franchise today. In all of them after the first few seasons I go "sticks in the middle" for the rest of the franchise - and the ability to do that was removed after 2006, i believe, and think this was due to the release of EA Head Coach. No madden since allows sticks in the middle in franchise mode. I would take owner control of all 32 teams, and play ALL games sticks in the middle. My 2nd franchise I drafted a QB named Lee Madden, and that kid tore up the league for years! Wondering if 2007 is worth jumping into, ie any improvements to game play, franchise mode, etc - and can anyome confirm sticks in the middle is or is not allowed in franchise mode in 07? My recollection is it is not allowed. Thx for this awesome vid.

Madden NFL in the 6th Generation era is best on the original Xbox. It puts the PS2 version of the Madden games to shame due to slightly better graphics, Dolby Digital 5.1 surround sound, adding your own custom soundtracks for the game's menu (beginning with Madden NFL 2004), more textures on the players, helmets and uniforms, grass, turf, etc. But overall, the gameplay is still great. But.... there's one thing the PS2, Xbox and Gamecube versions have in common: It's leagues better than the Eighth generation era Madden games on PS4 and Xbox Phony Baloney.

Madden 04 and 05 will always be my favorites. I think 05 more so than 04. The franchise mode in that game was spectacular. The graphics got a nice boost from 04, where you could see the outlines of the pads under the uniforms, and the Online was my Favorite as well. I was a big fan of Fair Play, and not having to worry about cheesers that were going to go for it on 4th down every time. And they had these "Quick" Tournaments that I sank hours into!

07 would be hands down the best Madden ever if not for the RB slider bug. From 2006 until the last PS2 version in 2012, the RB slider in the coach philosophy setting was broke (setting made RB2 apply to FB) so you could not split carries with other backs leading to unrealistic stats. This feature worked through 2005. Also 2007 was the last year you could knock a players helmet off or have an injury called “concussion”... thanks NFL legal team.

Nope madden 09 helmets still come off plus concussions. Plus they added the sideline catching. Plus you can play all madden season without QB vision. Plus it was maddens last game commentating. I play it daily and still hear new stuff from madden. 09 the best on Ps2.

*FYI Madden Fans* I hated Madden 2019 that I said nope. And I had taken a 3-4 year break.. (I started playing in Madden 92 as a blunted teenager in 92. And boy was 1993 "Championship Edition" special w/ it's historic teams) ~So I went to Game-Exchange~ The used game store which seels ALL retro games. ~ I bought a PS2 for I think $30 w/ controller & cords. ~Then I bought Madden 2002-2008 ~ESPN 2K football games ~NHL 2001-2008'ish All~in~All= I got about 20 games form about $18 bucks!!! All w/ Cases and instruction booklets and some had MISC stuff like a Hockey sticker in one etc. I think it was buy 1 get 2 free on all PS2 games. and they we're mostly $.97 each. ~So the new problem is which one to play. I always considered 2003 the best soundtrack year but I forget. "Never scared" Madden remix year ;D lol epic!! I get home & start playing and realize that I didn't get memory cards. they too are dirt cheap. I think couple bucks and I got about 5 and a larger one. ***BUT*** THEN I SAW IT.. MONSTER COMPONENT CABLES.. These things are thick AF.. Like Fiber Optic ocntrusction cables ;D... *Here's what I instantly noticed when I switched between RCA TO component. The words in Madden had a blurry/Blotchyness to them and the MOnster Component Cables cleaned that right up.. *Sadly, the 4K TV in my Cave doesn't have component and so im forced to use my older 1080p livin room TV until the HDMI adapter thing arrives. The Monster cable was surprisingly only $5.. wtf! I bet that cable was $60 bucks back then..i know for sure the monster component cables youd buy for OriginalXbox was $80... Bottom line~ im used to the graphics again and it doesn't bother me.. Im enjoying the offline Madden cards in franchise when I wanna boost up secondary INT or fumble stats.. Not to mention I love the NFL rosters then. Same w/ Hockey. The superstars we're pretty epic.. So all in all I spent probably $60. maybe $70 w/ the HDMI adapter.... Not bad.. Now it has me wanting to get a OG xbox and see how they compare.. I know it will be slightly better graphics wise because it is mostly 420p W/ official HDMI cables.. Sony never made official HDMI.. **My plan B was to get the 1st edition PS3 w/ backwards compatability. the 80gb one has built in emulation but the 20gb + 40gb PS2's have PS2 hardware.. I didn't go this route because they weren't available at the time and kinda pricey. I think $60-$70 bucks.. then again,alot of gamersd don't want to just play PS2/retro via emulation. im one of those gamers.. I already lived that life and now prefer the original hardware.. it also brings joy everytime I notice the retro consoles on my huge TV stand/shelf thingy... *I posted thisjust as a reference how I went about it and how much it cost me.. /cheers

I had ‘04 on PS2 and Xbox after that I exclusively only played Madden on Xbox . The graphics looked way better , and the AI was smarter on Xbox, also no memory card needed. Certain things like body collisions were different. You’ll only understand if you had both systems

the defense being overpowered in 2005 was era correct, defense still won championships. I think 06 with the vision cone off on PS2/OG Xbox had the perfect balance.
