I would have been entirely okay with throwing the sentencing norms out the window and doing something a bit more creative with Perry. The day of his sentencing, they should have taken whatever The Daily Number was, and that's how many months he should have been in prison for. Either he gets lucky and walks out of jail for free if 000 was drawn, or spends 83 and a quarter years in prison if 999 was drawn, or anywhere in between. It would have been fitting.

In itself, a 666 combination wouldn't make me suspicious of fixing. Obviously it draws your attention, but it's not as though it has less odds of appearing than any other combination. The fact that it actually did turn out to be rigged shows a baffling amount of dumbness in those who were otherwise smart enough to rig it. Why only weight down the balls other than 4's and 6's in all three machines? Common sense dictates that rigging different numbers in each machine would produce a less conspicuous combination. The way they did it, it was always going to guarantee two matching digits. The only possible combinations would be 444, 464, 446, 466, 644, 646, 664 or 666. All of those results attract attention, and had an alarmingly high 2 in 8 risk of producing the worst possible combination of a triple matching numbers result. And instead of rigging two balls in each machine, why not just rig one in each? The way they did it produced suspicious betting patterns, to cover the eight dubious possible combinations. Whereas rigging just one ball in each machine would guarantee only one result of their choosing, lets say 173, which wouldn't attract any suspicion if one ticket was bought knowing that those would be the winning numbers.

It may have been the balls where mixed somehow before the machines were run. Of course it still would have been smarter to rig the machine in a way where the odds weren't as dramaticly altered.

They had to change the whole row of Machines but with the same mechanism to avoid drawings like this. Nowadays, they got better machines for The DAILY NUMBER (now PICK3), BIG4 (Now PICK4) and Quinto (now PICK5)...

I don't think this one instance is the only time they pulled this trick. My dad had a friend at work around that time who noticed certain numbers coming up more frequently in the PA lottery. He started betting on those numbers and winning small amounts. That story is the reason why, many years later, I looked up lottery scandals in PA from the early '80s. I think they started out small and then got greedier and more bold as time went on.

The pa lottery for 4-4-22 was the same numbers for the day and nite pick 3 and 4 I found that extremely odd ! The lottery is a digital simulation of the old ball draw later and our brains are so use to the old systems that most people didn't pick up on the change. This digital form of the lottery makes it so much more easier to manipulate the out come!

Lesson learned. Don't rig the lottery because it's against the law to do so. If you get caught rigging the lottery, you'd face some serious consequences like decades in state prison and/or a huge fine. Stay in school kids.

It's said in this video that the odds of the same number coming up 3 times are 1000 to 1. However that's wrong because there are 10 possible combinations of 3 numbers being the same. So while the odds of 666 coming up are 1000 to 1, the odds of three numbers being the same are 100 to 1.
