Thanks for this. I didn't notice the screws for the heat sink. I'm baking my card because it started to artifact. Hopefully it'll work. I just gotta pick up some thermal paste before I put it back together.

My 8800 GTS (same one as you) started getting artifacts and I can't use it anymore. I had it and used it as my only GPU since 2007. I tried doing everything you did in this video and re-applied the thermal paste with my own, cleaned everything, still artifacts. I'm thinking of holding a funeral. RIP 8800. RIP.

Great card, still using mine, idles @ 50, peaks at 66 (after a clean, it did peak at 83). Oc'ed it upto 620/955, runs 3DMark 06 at 14,965, and AquaMark 3 @ 208,000+ (see video response). I'm amazed at how good it is for it age, it runs, Crysis, FSX, TDU, COD6, all at 1440x900 ~ 40-60fps at med-high settings...10/10.

o sh itttttt really man i thought those cooled very well

Yeah, you need plenty of cooling for these high end cards. This was reaching 80 to 90 deg C before it burned out. : (

Well I am looking right now to replace the cooling system. I won the card and have a 7600GT as a backup, so why not. But yeah, mine hasn't burned out yet. It will soon though if I do nothing.

Does anybody know what the thickness of thermal pads is on 8800 GTS?
@nixontiu13 жыл бұрын
Yeah, you should get a new one now, plenty of other cards that are more efficient

That's right, this card crashed and burned. I hope GTX285 is better

I dont think that will help much, it would be better to increase circulation/ventilation in your case.
