I was so worried that we’d see him spiral throughout the series. So happy to see him getting some happiness and purpose.

Same here - yeah he definitely found the purpose that he had been seeking since the start of S1!

We need to see Ritchie be human, spiral into himself and come out loving each of them more than they will ever love Ritchie. Ritchie is the heart ♥️♥️♥️ of us all ♥️♥️♥️🙏🙏🙏

To add onto the walk in fridge scene, in the beginning, both Carmy and Richie were together in the fridge arguing. The fridge represents the past and all their baggage. The broken door handle represents not dealing with it and being trapped in the past. In the final episode, we see Richie outside the fridge, suited up and trying to talk to Carmy in a caring way "Why can't you let something good happen for you once in your life?". Carmy is stuck in the fridge and the flashbacks of Donna and the past make him regress. It showed that Richie was growing and moving forward while Carmy is trapped in his ways. Richie even kept yelling "I love you" to Carmy in the argument. I have a feeling that the fridge is going to be super symbolic in Season 3.

That's a cool way to look at it! Yeah it will be interesting to see if it does feature more!

That's what I got from it too. The argument at the end of season 2 shows the contrast in their character development. Richie is progressing, Carmy is regressing. Season 1 was Carmy's dream and Richie's speedbump. Now the roles have kind of reversed. Richie is ready to help Carmy, but now Carmy is resisting the help.

One of my favorite scenes from the show is when Carmy gives Richie Michael’s hat. I like that Carmy realized losing Michael was just as hard for Richie.

Yeah that was such a great moment. Totally agree with that

I think that's why Carmy felt the need to help Richie to find himself back again, in somehow, Richie is the fastest way to be linked to his lost brother, and he was not willing to lose, once again, an older sibling.

The small details of Richie offering Nat Sprite before she revealed she was pregnant to anyone in the present day without context, then talking about Spite in episode 6 with his then pregnant wife in the past just shows you the immense care that he has for his people, that he just knew Nat needed a sprite just by pure instinct and experience.

Yeah, was only something he could have learned from his stage and it helped fire home how serious he took that week and what it taught him.

There was a snippet during Richie's stage, where Richie walks back into the kitchen, yelling. He was told to quiet down. Richie responded to discipline, and he thrived when he put down his pride and was open to learning. His character arch is my favorite.

This show does such an incredibly great job at providing excellent arcs for all their its characters. And the most impressive thing about it? Avg of 30min episodes. This 8-10 episode averaging 30min each, 2 season show does ten-fold of what 10 episode 1hr avg shows do for their characters.

His ex-wfie and daughter should have been there during their soft opening. His daughter would've have been so proud of him. I wish they'll see him in season 3.

Am I the only one that absolutely loved Richie from the beginning even before his character development? Idk if it’s because I grew up in the region around Lots of guys like him, but I always thought Richie was a trip 😂

I did too, he was one of my favorites from the beginning. he has so many funny moments in season 1 and I could tell that he was a good person who was "stuck" in some way, so when his big episode came in season 2 I was so happy for him

Richie is 100% autisitic. His repressed feelings on Michaels death, pattern recognition with staging, his in ability to accept change to his routine, being very course to people so they dont get to close, he mirrors personality traits of those he respects (michael and then the guy at the nice restraunt) seeks validation from those around him, etc. I could go on all day. But it was nice to see representation outside of characters like Abed and Sheldon

I really like your analysis but i somewhat disagree with your interpretation of the fridge scene. I think this is meant to remind us of the climax of season 1 but more to show how Ritchie has grown as a character. I also cant make it through "Forks" without crying. It is such a moving and beautiful episode.

I hated Richie in season 1. He was an obnoxious speedbump to Carmy's plans to improve The Beef. Then in season 2 I understood a lot about him, and I saw that the underlying problems he dealt with were very similar to my own, and that I hated him because I was him. Seeing his growth in episode 7, and watching him rock out to Taylor Swift in his car brought me to tears. He went through where I was in my life, to where I want to be. He found his purpose and he learned to respect himself. Ironically we have the same name.

My favorite character. To me, he largely steels the show compared to Carmy. That one doesn't have any emotional range except anger. Richie has also good physicality and is a good actor. I feel these burned out and over the top characters looking at the sky in search of hope like Carmy...these kind of heros feel overated in 2024. It was fine before, but now unless you have the talent of a succession writer/actor, I'm not buying it.😅
