I remember when the Davenport, IA Sam's Club actually had conveyor belts up to the self checkout scanner. Even though I don't go to that particular Sam's Club much anymore because they built a Sam's Club in Moline two years ago, I know they don't have those anymore. Both the Moline and Davenport Sam's Clubs have self checkouts with a scanner gun. More efficient in my opinion because you do not have to take everything out of your cart!

@jimster586 Apperently, I heard they did, and with the exception of New England, all the other stores were renamed Food Lion. Someone that used to work in a suuthern Hannaford said that's what happened.

For every single one of these "Self checkout's" is one persons job. Eliminating jobs. If more of these catch on, cashiers will be a thing of the past.
