I totally agree. Back then Space was my mail focal point but I would've taken just about any set just as long I had something to build with.

Man, to go back in time... I was 10 going on 11 in 1992 and in the prime of my childhood. It's hard to deny that Lego wasn't also in its prime at the that time back then. These are some of the most definitive sets ever in my opinion, and I was lucky to have most of the castle and pirate ones, and a few of the space ones. I miss this era of Lego and wish it could come back in some way.

I had a large A4 catalogue in the late 70's, slept with it, took it to school, it went on holidays with me and basically became my bible.......I carried it, studied it and loved it.....it was my wish list, dream list and Christmas pray list......love looking through the old style catalogue.....

I used to spend hours looking through my catalogs as a kid. The pictures were so small though that you could hardly get a good look at the sets. I used to think that the sets would all end up being far larger than they actually were. The Lego magazine didn't come around in my house until later but it was full size with a lot of close up photos and descriptions of what the sets were and enabled you to really get a feel for what you were getting. As a kid I would have absolutely loved watching your show though. If only we had KZbin 25 years ago.

I never had LEGO as a child; I discovered it in the mid-1990s. Thanks to a local store that sold all kinds of discontinued merchandise, I was able to get several old LEGO sets (at discount prices!) I love Paradisa, and bought Poolside Paradise, Dolphin Point, and Rolling Acres Ranch. They also had two sets from the Duplo Playhouse theme that were released about the same time -- Grandma's Kitchen and Family Home Bucket. I bought both -- love them!

Jack actually wasn't interchangeable with Zack, he was a distinct replacement! His first commercial opened with the lyrics "His name is Jack, he's new in town" and aired not too long after the Zack ads. In some places, Jack also had a friend named Mack. Around 1994 they were all condensed into a more ambiguous "The LEGO Maniac" character - the one that's a cartoon, not a real kid.

Ooh, yes. Owned quite a few of these actually, remember them vividly, but also when they were in pieces again and I wanted to build them again but for some reason never did :( That intercoastal seaport for instance. I remember a LEGO set I got at Legoland (I lived in Denmark for a while as a kid), the 6668 container truck. Now that is a pretty bad ass set, so multifaceted for its size, and a really unique piece with the crane part (it extended and everything, worked just like the real thing). Love LEGO, too bad I don't have the money to buy any. It's probably the most expensive hobby out there, and I'm really impressed by your collection Jang, that's easily $500 000 dollars worth of LEGO right there. (good to hear your voice again, I watched your RC-channel before you retired it)

They should have brought back monorail with the Jurassic world sets. Have a monorail go through the big doors that open automatically as the monorail goes through and have it circle the main visitor center. That was a golden opportunity right there man! Also, will you be doing the large Technic sets of this year? Whilst last years RC volvo front loader was just a toy, this years Mercedes is an authentic working replica of the real thing as well as being a great, very fun to play with toy. It's like the best thing Lego has ever produced, and I say that as someone who grew up during the golden era of Technic from the late 80s to the mid 90s. BTW, that large Technic helicopter, the whirlwind rescue, could be motorised with the motor set 8720 (I still remember that number!)

The absolute pinacle of 90's technic was the Barcode Truck IMO. Awesome build, lots of pieces and a great mix of old and new styles and it still holds up design-wise today despite not using any of the "newer" technic beams and using studded ones instead. Looks the bomb. Modern technic is too smooth and boring for me tbh, and they have so few parts now it's barely worth it.

The reason for the two harbors is that the older version (the smaller one) was not sold out. They are not from the same year. The same is with the old red pirate ship and the newer red soldiers ship. Not from the same year either. It's a sort of transaction catalog from older sets the newer sets.

As a girl I never got as much lego as my brother. I had the paradisa stable. I think thats it. But I played with my brothers lego and I recognize a few sets from this catalogue. He had the Pier Police. And we played with it a lot. We used to build around the streets he had and the police house was one of the few building sets he had. So it was usually the main focus =)

Fun fact: If you do decide to review the Technic sets of 1992, the Speedway Bandit, Mountain Rambler, and the Red Universal set can be combined into a larger "Technic Racer" that actually looks pretty good, if you don't mind the technic asthetic (or if you happen to have a few technic minifigs =D I don't know if you can track down an instruction scan, but it's worth the effort if you own all three sets and like their aesthetic.

Hey Jang, I saw a KZbin video of cancelled Lego sets and since you mentioned that you liked the Monorail system (so do I), there WAS a theme that was called Sea Tron but quite a bit of the pieces from that cancelled theme were used in Aquanauts theme. Personally with all the aliens from Star Wars sets that have been released, why not give Sea Tron the green light to be produced and marketed especially for us who appreciate nostalgic sets.
