Great video. I can totally relate to your story however I was much younger. I was born in Toronto and my family decided to move to Macedonia when I was 10 years old. Lived there in a very small town (that was a huge adjustment) and then moved back to Canada after 5.5 years when I was 16. My brother also moved back ton Macedonia 7 years ago and prefers that lifestyle there. He now lives in Bitola. I have visited him at least 6 times in the past 2 - 3years and absolutely love Macedonia. Enjoy living there - it is much different comparing to Canada

Thanks for posting this video and on the group. This is something my Canadian husband and I talk about often. Please continue to post. My parents are even interested as well.

Macedonia/Aussie here, I was born down under and growing up realised that since travelling to Europe, I did notice a lot of European countries are very social and that there is a lot of a nightlife out there then anywhere else. Most places here are generally expensive to go out or even socialise. Everything is technology focused where your always at home or it’s cheaper to stay home have a few drinks and that’s it lol. You would have your ‘pre drinks’ with friends at somebody’s house get a little tipsy then go out where it’s affordable. I’d say there a pros and cons to anything and it’s a matter of life adjustment and life choices. Good luck on your adventure 😁

Yes! Life in North America for me was very much as you described, with the majority of time being spent at home and so we got accustomed to that lifestyle. Going out often is expensive, plus the city is way too big and so travelling is annoying and not necessarily safe. I would always tell local Macedonians this and they would get shocked!

Yep lol I think they have been brought up differently and become accustomed to socialising a lot more. That’s why you see a lot of cafes opened late at night and people out all night

I have so many questions and hope to see more of your journey updates and hopefully you can do more videos on answering more questions like how to find a job and wage compared to cost of living in Macedonia. How to buy property. Process on getting documention for citizenship and if cards, etc. Good luck once agian i hope you can succeed and maybe even inspire more of us that live in the diaspora to make the move to Macedonia.

Thanks so much. Those are all really great topics that I will definitely keep in mind to discuss in future videos! They're certainly things my family and I didn't know before the move and had to learn along the way :) Edited to add: though we didn't have all the answers, we all felt called to move to Macedonia and trusted in our faith that it would work out. Hope that helps!

I moved from Sydney last year, gone through all of what you listed above lol It's not that scary, just need positive attitude and some patience. Happy to answer any questions you may have.

Most people in Macedonia want to emigrate because life is very hard there. The jobs are very poorly paid, workers usually earn around €400-€500, which makes it a struggle to survive. What do you and your family live on now? Do you have jobs or do you live off savings or pensions?
