I remember when I was 21yrs old. My mama had a 81 or 82 Pontiac Lemans that I tried to buy from her. My step dad had put a 455HD in it and did some other shit to it. She sold it to a friend of mine that was renting a room from me. That made me mad but my friend gave it to me for him living with me. We was already best friends but we're definitely like brothers. It’s still very impressive that that combo has been in 2 different crows plus the crowmod with no real major changes. The amount of passes it’s made the amount of power it still makes after these years. And the fact that it’s I hate saying that it’s kinda basic . But compared to the seriously expensive stuff the rest of the 405 is running in noprep is ridiculous. Kudos to Chief for stay true to his roots

For future reference, Yamabond (3bond/hondabond same chit) works great on valley trays. It's solvent based and non hardening so it can be re-tightend. Use it on 60's Triumph motorcycle cases to Mopar valley trays etc etc.
@Edizzle154 ай бұрын
So it should work on a 3000hp motor too, right?
@Dirtydave674 ай бұрын
@@Edizzle15 I don't know if you're being sarcastic or not but horsepower has nothing to do with a sealant on things like valley pans, oil pans, etc.

@oikkuoek4 ай бұрын
Jackie, your videos have the best soundtrack of all YT automotive content. Thank you. Was it the silicone or the crank case pressure? There might be a piston ring or two that has lost tension and/or collapsed ring land. That would also explain the need for adjustment to the two-step settings. Basically, silicone is silicone. It's the same compound with the same properties, no matter the tube or the label. The next step up is Poly-urethane i.e panel glue/Sika flex. That sh!t sticks and holds everything in anything, forever. In between there's also butylene based sealing goos and tapes for different applications. But, instead of trying to get that valley pan to hold better, There's strips of aluminium to weld, mating surfaces to grind etc.. I would rather look for ways to drop crank case pressure. That way the need for more seal would also be fixed.
@justinshearer30164 ай бұрын
pan vac/crankcase pressure was less than normal and almost zero since only running 35-40lbs of boost....all of the logs were considerably lower than the pressure it normally sees by the end of a run. Other thing that i noticed is none of the oil was collecting at the rear of the engine, and none of it was going down the back....It was all running forward. Im thinking it wasnt leaking until the shutdown when the heads were full and the oil couldnt drain back to the oil pan fast enough. Obviously anything is possible and it could be a wore out ring pack, but its always shown the normal signs whenever that was the case (and for whatever reason even then the valley tray didnt leak lol.... but tbh im hoping it was just the cheap auto parts store silicone, as ive never had any issues when i use the normal delco 10-2006. We shall see
