Knuckleheads were made from 1936-1947. Panheads were made from 1948-1965. Things change quite a bit in their technology as they move forward in time. The Knucklehead heads are cast iron and a much different design from the Panhead aluminum heads. There are many other differences, but that kinda does it.

I remember being about 10 years old and sitting on it thinking that it was the coolest thing ever. It really brings back memories and nostalgia for me. I wished it was still here. I dream to one day build a knucklehead chopper of my own but knucklehead's are priced to where a working guy can't afford them these days. I have no idea how anybody can hate on this video. 2:00 didn't think i'd learn roughly how carbs work when i clicked on this video, but here we are!
@pacificmike95014 жыл бұрын
Just remember, these are very basic carburetors, perfect to learn from. There is no accellerator pump, and the fuel enters into the combustion chamber because of suction from the engine itself. How you control that suction is how you start your engine. Don't forget to retard the timing, just to start.

Your yellow Harley was the stuff of dreams for a small town kid who knew he could never have such a great Harley because: 1) had not the expertise to build such a project, nor did anyone within 100 miles 2) had not the funds and no prospects of having same anytime within the next 20 years 3) had not the ability to kick-start (or ride) such a big motorcycle with any confidence 4) did not want people to think he imagined himself to be Peter Fonda or an outlaw biker 5) did not want outlaw bikers to think he was an outlaw biker BUT I STILL LOVE THE GLORIOUS CHOPS! Thanks for a great video.

Great Mike. Looks so much like the 46 I built decades ago. Mine was Candy Apple Red is all. Drag pipes instead and drag bars instead. Same seat, tank and over all look. Slight longer front end with straight lace wheel and no brake. I survived. I like front brakes now. Thanks.

Burt Monroe explained, "I didn't build it to stop." This one was built back in the sixties. I just restored it. It had most of the goodies. I crashed a Panhead back in 76 with no front brake and a straight laced wheel that came apart on impact, as did I.

I like this guy/ channel. Not a bunch of usless rambling. Hes " brass tacks" and has an almost " radio voice" like quality. Actually want him to ramble on. Lol. Great knuckle. Great video.

Love the yellow! Wish I could get a length on your springer...I actually have a solid bronze top clamp for my 52...I'm just not sure what length I should run to match that perfect profile.

The fork on my Knucklehead is a genuine XA from an XA motorcycle used to chase Rommel around North Africa during WWII. There were supposedly 1000 of them made and they are 2 1/2" longer than a standard old Harley springer. They are what started extended front ends.

Yes, she's a genuine "E-Ticket Ride." And, that's an extremely bright yellow.

Greetings. I know there's Indians where you live. I've had those too. Kiwi Indian is in Southern California. That's Mike Thomas, a man from New Zealand who's built quite a business here. Wishing you the best.

What are some of the common bikes one would see in New Zealand?
@langsfordmusicltd2832 жыл бұрын
Hey mate.. well… a lot of Harleys of course… a lot of new bikes, but plenty of evo’s… shovels etc are becoming more rare. Yeah I know of the Kiwi guy who does the Indians in CA. They’re becoming more popular down here now too. Cheers mate

This video popped up and upon clicking it, I was nearly floored. You look and sound exactly like my college mentor and good friend, the late Martin Jack Rosenblum. It's an appropriate topic for him, too. This video brought a smile to my lips and a tear to my eye. Thank you.

Hi mike nice video.. I have a question about the knucklehead, mine is blowing so much oil from the breather pipe . What do you think it’s wrong with that? Thank you.
@pacificmike9501 Жыл бұрын
Does it clear up after a while of running? Has it been sitting a long time? Is the oil clean? Maybe it's just getting by the check ball in the oil pump. I need more info to give a suggestion.

I was wrong about "Baby Doll". I remember you bought a red HD when you lived in Anaheim Hills. But it would have been late 70's or so. We worked together for years at IMC and Tri-Star. I looked you up many times with no luck and was happy to find you randomly on KZbin. Glad to see your success at doing what you love. You look happy, healthy, and prosperous. I did live in Riverside, but it was long after you and I hung out. Eric M
