All he says is exactly what is at issue with me. Cutting losses is the central issue. I'd swear this guy is me. Haha. I'm 66 years old, and paper trading now for a year. Not quite ready. Need consistancy.

I feel when it comes to the stock market, it all boils down to having proper risk management and a system that is back tested and proven, then opportunities become endless, each to their own though and if you're profiting from the strategies you find on KZbin videos that's also great!

Phil, you said traders careers were ruined by HKD. Do you mean they lost their full account? Or they lost their account plus they owe the broker a million after they short $10k and it goes up 100X and can't pay? Wouldn't brokers be bankrupt if they allow traders to lose millions more than what's in their account? Or do they just hope the traders will somehow come up with millions? Loved the interview!

Usually, a broker will close your position once it doesn't meet risk and margin requirements.

- once you have market knowledge, 70% is mental - eg a once or twice a year thing that could take their trading to the next level, they're scared to do it or refusing to stop out/ be wrong - everyone trades better with the right state of mind, and right mood - it's important for every trader to have a safety net eg farmland or wire out money every month - some great traders have lost eg 80% of their account when they didn't put any away - let your profits grow on the side, outside of the market - just because you had a good year last year. last 3 years, doesn't mean the future years is the same, if it's hardshup and you don't have some put away or saved, you could be in real trouble. - get what you need, but keep growing the account. - if you make it and then spend it right away, then you're forced to constantly make, constantly spend, constantly make, repeat. this is not a positive way to trade because you never want to feel forced eg "omg, i need to make this money". trade when your mind is free and clear and have no obligations. so when you have a downturn, then you don't worry because then you have more time to enjoy - he was not afraid to push the limits when the opportunity was there. when he saw opportunity he pushed it and that is the trader's way to make big money. day to day take singles but when you see this trade, you have to understand that you can lose more but i'm going to bet more because risk/reward is on my side. but be careful, because when you push limits, you can get into the habit of pushing limits, even not on A setup - a trader needs several strengths: RESILIENCE (refusal to give up, refusal to accept to be mediocre).anyone that wants to be a real, successful trader for the long haul needs to understand that failure is part of the game without a doubt, you're going to fail and it's how do you come back from those failures, what do you do, how to you react, what do you learn, DISCIPLINE, being able to PUSH THE LIMIT when you see a good setup - drive to keep going, keep learning, keep adapting and keep changing with the market - the market moves in cycles, sometimes it is tough and sometimes there's a gap of 9months when everything is easy - and you never know when you're going to see that one stock that can open up your eyes - once you put in that much time, of course you're going to finally figure it out - so many people want the easy way out, the lottery ticket win, don't want to put in the hard work

Sensational fucking comment man. Took me some time to realize everyones journey is this trading thing is not the same. As long as you’re resilient everyone can end up in that “5%” of traders whom are successful. You’re a goat man and i strive to get where you’re at.
