I love these laptops, they’re very versatile and I don’t mind the lower 1200p screen resolution but I do wish that they added a 120hz option or at least make it a 90hz base screen, that would definitely peek my interest way more!

I have a yoga 7 pro video coming next. The one shown in the video. The yoga pro 7 and slim 7 are basically the same laptop. The only real difference are the available specs. Just pick the one with the best specs and go with that, they actually even use the same chassis and interior

11:40 Wouldn't the keyboard be a worse spot? It would be even easier to press because you couldn't see it at all. I had a Vivobook Flip on which I kept accidentally putting it to sleep for this exact reason. It _would_ be nice if they built the fingeprint scanner into the power button so, if docked to a monitor, one could turn on and unlock the laptop without having to open it and put unnecessary wear on the hinges.

Tip: under control panels, then power settings, you can disable the power button from doing anything while the notebook is on, eliminating this issue.

I would like to ask does this AMD 8840HS have an actual dedicated NPU? Because the AMD logo does not have an AI markings compared to the Units sent for review to creators which has AI markings on the logos, and the Task Manager does not show NPU performance monitor?

Just received my Ideapad Pro 5 14 gen 9 with a similar hardware setup to this. You did a review on it (thanks - very helpful to me), or rather the Chinese import version of it. Short story - very happy with it! Just wanted to say I noticed in the BIOS that i can change the ram speed from 6400 to 7500. I did because, er, higher must be better, right? 😅 Didn't bench before and after, just basically enabled it. Wondered if you'd have the same option on this laptop here.... EDIT: oh, I just realised this is 8840HS and the Ideapad Pro 5 14 gen 9 has an 8845HS. I think you even said 8845 in this video. Didn't realise they were different. Not by much, but the 8845 has a higher TDP and base / turbo clock speeds. It really is a minefield out there! ❤

@@minuteproof3713 not quite as good as I was expecting / hoping, but still seems quite good. I can't really compare / gauge though as I've never owned a laptop before. I think it's feasible to get a day's work out of it on a full charge (browsing, emailing, office work), but one still has to be mindful of usage, draining processes and laptop power settings. I find myself switching to 60hz from 120 to conserve battery.

hey Beau, I appreciate your videos / reviews as usual. But I have come to notice that many reviewers nowadays don't actually do reviews anymore. Just quick looks, quick tests on performance, noise etc. which makes it a PREview. Nobody does an actual REview after using it for at least a week or 5 work days in their own workflow. These metrics are all predictable for the specs and form factor. I would like to see actual usability results, how (consistent) is sleep and wake? Are there any random hiccups during this daily use? Any strange behaviors that you can't see in a preview like this etc.? Another important thing is how it behaves and FEELS on say balanced mode on battery, especially on the LAP since these are LAPtops. How is the battery drain during this personal use and what is your workflow etc.? You get me, and I don't mean this to bash on you or your content. I just genuinely can't find the actual information that I need.

I always daily drive my laptops for at least a week before I publish my videos, that way if I run into any issues I can add that during my co cousins. The conclusions (and intro) are typically filmed later as well It’s not realistic to get super long term feedback on every laptop as I can fairly drive all of them for months (literally impossible), but that’s why I rotate them in daily use for several days to identify quirks

It depends what office tasks you are doing. The idle section more or less reflects what it would be like using a word processor, however if you are switching between browsers, and doing research, that would be more similar to what you would get out of KZbin section. If you are doing very demanding stuff on battery such as compiling code, it will not last very long maybe a couple hours

@@TechGuyBeau yeah the idle time is a bit misleading because as soon as you start doing browsing, google docs, playing music, watching vids, the battery drain forecast changes (at least from my experience). My slim 5 14 can last 5 hours doing just those tasks- can the Yoga 7 last longer based on your testing?

@@justinumali8618that’s why KZbin is a better estimation of generic use, with word processing being basically idle. If you are doing heavy browsing, like constantly flipping through websites for some reason then it will consume more than just using KZbin. But there is no way to standardize those tests as the websites your browse, how quickly you switch, the browser you use, etc all all exceptionally variable

another way to decide which type of cpu to choose is to see which is cheaper in ur area. For me, amd seems to costs pretty reasonable as some of the chips r made in my country.

Would you say this laptop is better than the Asus Zen book 14? Right now this laptop is at $650 in best buy, but the Asus is $800 with the added bonus that it has better battery life based on reviews(14-15hs) and I believe better performance cause Asus runs at 42-39W.

If you would choose, would you go with this or the Lenovo Yoga 7i pro? I need a laptop that will last me a long time since I do not have the money to upgrade frequently. My last one was a Lenovo Ideapad and I loved that one, but it is old (it lasted me 7 years!!!) So i need to buy a new one. I cannot choose between a 2-in-1 or just a normal one. I love the idea that it is a tablet and a laptop but I am afraid of the battery life, i saw it runs out quickly (up to 9 hours or less). But the non-convertible one will last up to 18 hours while doing heavy tasks. I am a marketing major, i do social media, make advertisments for companies, copywriting, etc. So I do need heavy programs like photoshop, premiere pro, illustrator, etc. Please help me out! @@ProPythonthe battery life in the KZbin section will reflect real world KZbin and mixed usage. Battery life coding will not increase usage as actually coding requires essentially zero CPU. Code compile however will use battery a lot quicker. Depending on how late your code is and what datasets you are working on

Its not the 8845hs it the 8840hs and the max tdp of the 8840hs is 28 watts, so it cant go any higher than that. (You keep saying the 8845hs, it is killing me because they both are different one has higher max tdp.)

No, the 8840u would have a lower max wattage. A 8845hs in general can go way over 28w.rhe 8840hs has a default of 30w pre boost

These laptops are amazing but I just can't get over the jelly-like rounded corners of these laptops. I really prefer the Samsung laptop lineup aesthetic I've been brainwashed by that so when I look at these lenovo's while I'm possibly shifting to this brand, those rounded corners where the keyboard is and the rounded edges, makes the esthetic look too soft and weak. They should have added dimension to the curves.
