Eric George explains why he identifies as a Zionist. Just as Samoans have a right to live in Samoa and Māori in New Zealand, so the Jews have every right to live and flourish in their historic homeland.

This is shameful. The system of colonialism and neocolonialism that oppresses Samoans and Māori in their own land today is the same system that drives the apartheid and displacement of Palestinians in Palestine. Both driven by western governments, both supported by increadible acts of violence, and both claiming to be a "beacon of light" in a backwards land. As someone from Yaqui and Chamorro heritage, no one in my family could ever support Israel and Zionism with the attrocities they are committing against indigenous people. I want to know how much they payed you to say this or if you genuinely believe that decades of oppression, displacement, and genocide is justified.

I'm Maori, I live in South Auckland, and can trace my whakapapa back to the Mataatua waka. I don't know any Maori in my whanau or iwi who support zionism. The idea of indigenous people supporting neocolonialism in any meaningful way is simply a joke. Of course you'll find the Destiny Church sort of evangelical religious extremists (unafilliated with any Maori governance or iwi, and extremely right-wing) in any country. However, they're not representative of general Maori thinking on the issue, which leans heavily towards supporting the rights and self determination of the Palestinian people who have been so heavily brutalised and oppressed by a cruel apartheid system which treats Arabs as second class citizens. The so called Indigenous Coalition for Israel is a complete astroturf campaign designed to create the image of support for zionism which doesn't exist among Maori or Pasifika, and that's obvious to anyone who actually lives in Aotearoa. Absolutely shameful behaviour, folks.

With respect, it appears you didn't listen to what Eric George was saying and it is evident you do not know the ancient history of Israel and the Jewish people. As a Maori and mindful of your indigenous authenticity, are you perhaps not aware there is no ancient historical evidence or DNA evidence of an actual Palestinian people and no ancient archaelogical evidence of such a race? If you wish to increase your knowledge and gain understanding please continue reading....Fact: The people who now call themselves Palestinians are Arabs and the majority of the Arabs of Gaza have Egyptian family names while others are Syrian, Jordanian and other family names from various Middle Eastern countries. Fact: The historical name for what is now referred to as the West Bank is Judea and Samaria. JUDEA where the Tribe of Judah dwelt....JUDAH/JEWS. (Get it?) Fact: The Jews are the indigenous people of Israel. If any one should claim the Canaanites were the indigenous people - the Israelis have more Canaanite DNA than any other people! Fact: There are more than 2.1 million Arabs who are citizens of Israel, (and who refer to themselves as Arab Israelis and DNA testing will undoubtedly reveal many have Canaanite ancestry also). Fact: They are all Israelis and it is their land. This fact belies any claim of Apartheid. Fact: Yasser Arafat said in the early 1960's " there is no such people as Palestinian". Fact: He unashamedly appropriated the name "Palestinian" for political purposes and to further the cause of Islam. Fact: The war in Gaza is between Israel and Hamas. Fact: Israel is not at war with the "Palestinians". Fact: Israel is not at war with The West Bank although their relationship is tense. Following the barbaric terror attack on Israel and kidnappings by Hamas on 7 October 2023 Israel closed the borders between them and Judea and Samaria (aka The West Bank) as a necessary security measure. We repeat.... Israel is not at war with The West Bank. Fact: The Palestinians consider The West Bank is the heart of their envisioned state and the Gaza strip as part of their territory. Fact: There are nearly 4.5 million Arabs who are now referred to as "Palestinian" living in Judea and Samaria (The West Bank). We repeat.... Israel is not at war with the people now referred to as Palestinians. Fact: Israel is not Palestine. Over 2 000 years ago Israel was referred to as Syria-Palestina by the Roman Occupiers during their rule of around 370 years. In the 20th Century under British Rule Israel was named British Mandate Palestine where all the people were qualified to be called Palestinian. Jews, Arabs, and a mixed multitude from other nations who made up the people of "Palestine". BTW. You mentioned the Palestinians having "been so heavily brutalized" - have you listened to the evidence about 7 October and Hamas? After 5 months in captivity there are still 136 people they kidnapped from Israel and continue to hold hostage including at least one Arab Muslim. They need to be returned to their loved ones. I believe this guy is accepting $ to say this - all scripted for him: It's the $ talking. The idea that that's the ancestral land of Jewish people and 'belongs to them from thousands of years ago'' feels like a huge scam.
