For some of us who never have or seen a supercell. This video is stunning work of art. This formation of a storm is amazing, first I thought a tornado was gonna spin up from it. But it was just heavy rain. And the view from far away and just nothing but flat land no buildings and trees to block the view. I just stare in awe. Just stunning absolutely beautiful. I need to make a trip to those states.

LP supercells just don't get enough love. What a friggin fantastic thing to see. I saw exactly one so far in my life and it was in the eastern plains of New Mexico. What a glorious thing it was to see. I didn't even care about the fact that I was originally cruising for tornadoes. Once I saw it I was floored. Made my month.

Low precipitation.? Are low precipitation supercells the only supercells that have these base clouds?
@MarkRosengarten3 жыл бұрын
@@itzrenzo8960 Yes, low precip. Nothing else looks like this. Classic supercells have a lot more rain in the core, HP supercells often have the updraft obscured by rain.

fantastic shot. you can clearly see the lower level winds in one direction and the higher level winds flowing a different direction, generating a wind shear vortex. very beautiful pedestal cloud too; I was almost expecting a tornado.

@@FreddyMcKinney I shoot storm and cloud time-lapse videos. I've had some pretty spectacular storms and videos but this is one I'd trade them all for. This is awesome. For storm time-lapse, I will typically take a photo every 2 seconds and create a 24fps video from it. That typically speeds it up to keep it interesting but not so much that's it's over too quickly. The favorite of my storm time-lapse videos is my channel feature video. It's not as removed from the storm as this one. I was right in the thick of it, but I thought it turned out awesome, especially the sunset at the end of the storm.

About 3 or 4 years ago, Linn County, Iowa had the sirens blow. They had actually stopped sounding, when my young son and I looked up. And right over our street was this weird "upside down bowl" cloud above us and it was slowly turning. We looked at each other, did the "Do you see what I see?!" bit and headed to the basement. It never did come down but I am sure that was a funnel cloud. I had never seen one except on videos. There really IS a beauty to them, if you also keep a healthy respect for what they can do, which is pretty scary!
