Very interesting because i came from Cambodia, Kiew Savoy ( Svay Keo in Cambodian) and Svay means Mango. Another plant with spiky trunk no one know the name in Southern California, they call Kapok (from chinese word), Kapok is the fruit and the plant call Kapokier (french writing).

Your trees are growing slow because the grass is competing with the tree. You need to smother the grass around the tree about 2 feet radius with double cardboard and mulch. Cheers from California.

I gave Lemongrass in my baby garden as well not as healthy and huge as him because it was just a trail. I planted in the middle of Phx heat wave. I assume he doesn't eat too much lime i don't see one. Love Mangos! He has quite a bite of them

8:02 - "It's very pretty, a pretty waste of space... it's not edible" Known as Kapok outside the USA, it's not just pretty. The fibers around the seeds can be used as natural fiberfill in pillows and comforters and such. (used to be used in lifejackets because it's naturally hydrophobic). Also the seed itself is not only edible, but tastes like coconut. A real plus since real coconuts don't grow well around most of central florida, other than perhaps a dwarf malayan coconut.

Hi from Broward county - Chermoya grow in this zone - 10. It would be great if you could zoom in to show the blossoms your guest (with a great voice) pointed out. We take pics of things in the garden and Google the pic. You can try to do that in preparation of this video - then if he doesn't know the name, you can help. Have you ever eaten Chinese dishes with bamboo shoots? Not exotic, a typical ingredient in authentic Asian food.

I can tell how to make healthy plan. You have to remove grass around the tree approximate 1 -2 feet, make it circle or square. Root need sunny and control watering. See your plant, a lot of leave, it's crowdy there, grow too high without fruit because too wet. Specially whenever you see fruit tree start flowering, you have to stop or do not watering until flower turn to fruit. Then back to normal watering. Too thick grass, too wet ground, too much water, it means no fruit come out.

Mango seeds have 2 embryos if his Dad grew that mango from seed both could have sprouted, the reason it's growing so slow could be two trees are competing with eachother. I would sacrifice the weakest tree and allow the other to grow.
