Glad I didn't ever remember my parents having brushed a legitimate concern off... And if the Dad knew about the attic having an outside entrance, then that is HORRIBLY negligence on the parents part. 😒 I once called them because I thought I heard someone walking around the house at night. I was super scared and so they called a friend to come over until they could get back. It turned out to be some weird thing the wind would do. I once saw someone trying to get into the house, and instead of calling my parents, I decided to out scare the person. I went and got my brush axe (looks like a mix between a scythe and an axe) and then walked around the house talking crazy about what I would do with anyone I found... Hey, over the years I've learned you just have to out crazy 'em.

I've gotta say; the father in the 1st story really ticked me off 😡 As parents; it's our job to protect our children to the absolute best of our abilities. I agree from the grammar to the continuity fails to the obvious fakeness, unrealistic dialogue, purple prose, use of words that aren't actually words in a vain attempt to sound smart, the fact that almost every female is less than 5'3 and 125 lbs and every bad guy male is somehow close to 7 feet tall. I could go on and on- I really think the stories are mostly written by teenagers 16 and under and I swear Im so damn sick of hearing the phrase "pure dread washed over me." But let's read is SUCH a good storyteller, so good at what he does that I enjoy hearing him narrate even the shittiest of stories. When the guest narrators come one though... Man, it's so hard to make it through those and oftentimes I have to skip those stories altogether because without Joel's voice it's too shitty to handle

@@annie_xo I won't say it's not a double-edged sword, but that doesn't mean we should only 'play it safe'. That lets people like that guy on 3 get away with too much for far too long and no one should sit there and take it before it gets too late. That toxicity builds up instead of fizzling out, they don't usually take no for an answer--they often want control and will try to use your fear to get it. Even if that's what she thought, I don't blame her but it's sad to see how many women have stories like this and do nothing to stand up for themselves when they need to the most.
