What a beautiful excercise.... Your narrative bridges my communication with my late father.Long long ago, he would narrate to us his children, the Lahore stories. The 'Dehlijs'the 'Deories' the 'Darwaze' and 'Darrs' of Lahore ,were a part our life. Although we went to different convents and schools but our handwriting was always matched with that of Foreman Christian College, My fathers Alma mater. We reside(d )in indias most modren city, Chandigarh but until our Dad was alive we LIVED in Lahore... You have brought back Lahore into our lives, You have brought back our Dad. We can never thank you enough. And the same what you said, same my dad used to say about his beloved city Amritsar. He died with the hope to see his birth city but could not get a passport. And I and my son got passports and changed our nationality and we can go to any country but denied Indian visas because they would not give to anyone whose parents had any linkage with India. Salaam to Amritsar my father’s city and Gurduspur my mother’s city.

I heard that they call the elephant mansion as "saray". It is exactly like in Iran. They call the mansion for traders or travellers with their camels as "saray". True, usually the trader/traveller will sleep on the upper storey & they tether their camels below beside a drinking pool for animals. I think Lahore is also a city where the old Silk Road went through

My husbands from Bannu & DeraIsmail Khan .. My Bua stayed back & lived btwn Chak Radhanagar &Lahore .. her children married & became ‘ Pakistanis’ like lakhs torn apart .. we heard the tales of joy & laughter & tears .. which continues to date . Some of my most favorite memories of Lahore is when I used to visit as a child. My grandparents lived in androon Lahore in a neighborhood just like the ones you explore in your vlogs. Lahore has such a rich history, thank you for showing this aspect of the city. Great work!
