I have the O scale Colonial Mansion and the HO Plasticville Mansion and the buildings are the SAME SIZE! Couldn't believe it! I'm using both and they work well. It's probably just those 2 buildings.

Interesting. It's true of the "Country Church" as well. The HO and the O scale are exactly the same dimensions, but the door on the HO version is smaller than the door on the O version. That might also be the case of the mansion. These layouts always require a bit of imagination, so it definitely will work. And nobody will mind (or maybe even notice) if you don't mind. Thanks for taking the time to comment!

Another outstanding video, Mayor Mike. A fresh take on an old subject. Your math teacher skills came into play discussing scales and ratios. LOVED the classroom backdrop - WOW - those desks are exactly the ones we sat at, in grade school 1958 - 1964. Look at the wrought iron detailing and inkwell. Love that classroom!

I hope it´s not terribly obvious that I have no math skills, lol. I like the classroom too, and I remember desks somewhat like those, with ink wells. Although the ones I remember probably weren´t as fancy. Have a great holiday season, Paul.

That was neat. I remember the first question I ever asked you. I asked what the movie theater building was on your layout. You told me it was the lyric theater and it was ho. I thought it looked good so I bought one too. The doors are the only give away that its ho. The overall size of the building fits right in to my o gauge layout. I love it. Most people dont even pick up on the smaller doors.

I remember that, and I remember seeing the building on your layout. I was going to do a segment on the off-scale stuff I use, including this building, but the video was getting too long, so I decided to leave it for another time, but you´re right, it´s only the doors that make the structure HO. I love your arcade, but I´m missing your train layout! Looks like you have a lot of room at your place!

@@Plasticvillemayor Thanks. I also miss my train layout. It will be back next year. I cant do another year without trains.

Nice demonstration Mayor Mike. I think Plasticville is cool. I have a lot of pieces but I am mostly using Lionelville and MTH structures right now. Very interesting. Al

Thank you, Al. I like Lionelville and MTH stuff too. The Plasticville for me is nostalgic because it's what I had as a kid. Happy holidays to you!

Interesting to note the O scale Colonial Mansion and the HO one are the exact same building. Only difference is the windows and door size. Makes the HO look bigger and more appropriate. The HO modern house wirks with the S scale Plasticville buildings.

You put the smaller buildings in back for depth perception

Good thinking, Alan. Either that or something about that size in plastic. I don't use my HO buildings that much, but I will definitely try it out. Thank you!

If a person had a large layout. They could put the contemporary house in the back on top of a hill.

do you like k line buildings they are cool, oscale is the best In some cases the people are bigger than houses and the houses are bigger than the train ,like the lionel news that newspaper boy is big .nothing is to scale but its just a toy nothing to get excited about .ilove lionel trains it doeset bother me if nothings to scale . i have fun .keep me posted love your videos

Hi Scott. Thanks for the comment! Yes, I like k -line buildings and I have at least one of them on my layout (I think one of the school buildings I sometimes use is K-line), but I'm not as familiar with them as I am with Plasticville. And I agree that some of the differences in size require us to use our imagination. For example, when you compare the Plasticville people to the size of the tracks--the tracks come up to their knees. I think it's the overall effect of the whole layout rather than the details that makes it all work.
