This had happened to this one McDonald’s that I liked to go to. Tore down the whole building and rebuilt a newer building. Now that same restaurant is being remodeled inside for another 6 weeks. The drive thru is still open. I liked the interior before the remodeling job. I grew up with the 70’s-2000’s style ones. When I was little it was a real treat to go to a McDonald’s. The restaurants that I have been in don’t 6:55 have a playroom inside. It felt grown up towards me.

While so many commenters seem concerned with the subject matter let me say this - - - This is the FIRST 'time lapse' I have found on KZbin that truly IMPRESSED me! I have done some visual graphics ... and 1000's of audio manipulations in my day and until this video, I've never known a person I felt was my equal (I'm 69 and retired now)!! I won't go into my background ... suffice to say my real name has appeared in the crawl on more than 3000 productions ... for 20th Century Fox, Warner Brothers, Sony, and Universal and a few Indies. -- YOU -- did a __FANTASTIC__ mix .. i got it .... funny - cute - timed so nicely more than once ! ! ! SAD THO > > > probably (and sadly) only maybe 100 other people who watched this will ever "get it" and appreciate the hours you must have spent putting this video/audio together! If you are anywhere near the business, buddy ..... next job - -- break a leg - - - AGAIN !! :)

GoodOleBB , thanks so much for the kind words. Yes, it took a lonnnng time to complete this project. The sound effects were added more of a ‘humorous effect’ rather than a realistic account of the event. I wasn’t trying to make a high quality level of perfection. But I have been around longer than McDonald’s has existed-and most negative comments come from, what I call “ Happy Meal Filmmakers” I first started doing time lapse with a Bolex 8mm. None of these young-uns have never seen an 8mm film camera, much less shot with one. Lol

There was an old McDonals built in the 80’s in the town I live in and boy that place was awesome. It had a fireplace, with a few couches and chairs by the fire. Outside where massive trees that must’ve been over 100 years old with picnic benches under them. It felt so wholesome. I had a great time at that place, that is until they leveled it all and built a new one equally as boring as every other one nowadays.

I don't want to insult anyone. And I know they are spending a lot of money doing this. And they think they are making it better. But it's not. Takes all the character out of McDonald's. Turns it into a cold looking business place. They take Ronald McDonald away, all the other characters and they change the looks of the store. The old shapes of the '80s and '90s were warm and welcoming. I've even heard young teens saying that they love the old 80's styles. Of course people will still go to McDonalds. But again this takes out all the warmth and character. Seems like they're trying to end dine in and the fun of McDonald's. They keep making changes that no customers ask for.

There was a 50’s themed McDonalds in the town I live in. It had booth jukeboxes, the massive Golden Arches and all. That place was my favorite fast food spot in town, but of course they had it ruin it. They demolished it a few year ago and built a new one in its spot. I haven’t eaten there since and I don’t plan on doing so.

McDonalds if your going to make your fast food restaraunts look like starbucks cafes then why don't you stop serving the burgers and fries that made you number 1 and only serve coffee. It is a shame that you would destroy your companies own history just because coffee is a bigger money maker. When I was a kid McDonalds made me happy with the happy meals, the playplaces and the red, blue, or gray spanish tiled roofs. I also hate the new double drive throughs where drivers have cut in front of me when it was my turn. Go back to single drive throughs or make your double drive throughs like checkers.

I had so many memories at a McDonald's Playplace, so much to the point where my sister and I would always beg our mom or dad to take us to the nearest McDonald's. Sure, I like coffee, but I can basically get coffee anywhere. Sure, it maybe cheaper than the competing Starbucks, but I digress. Through what I've heard, the company is trying to pander to a "classier, adult" consumer base, despite the fact the following is true; MCDONALD'S APPEALED TO CHILDREN AND TEENS; Kids love the free toys and the Playplaces, and teenagers like the speed in which they can grab a meal for before or after school. I remembered a McDonald's my sister and I particularly liked (usually, no two Playplaces are exactly the same) got torn down around the time I was eight, and was replaced with a McCafé McDonald's, and it wasn't the same. Now, this was years ago, and note how I said I was eight, still a little kid, and it just wasn't the same. Now, obviously being older, I do see the appeal of coffee cheaper than Starbucks, but you don't need to tear down a McDonald's just because it doesn't look modern. I actually always loved the older ones, but where I live, all I see is silver with the golden arches slapped onto it (the new design) instead of the colourful McDonald's I grew up with. But it's not as bad, just as long as they STAY AWAY FROM THE ORIGINAL MCDONALD'S RESTAURANT IM FINE! If they try to replace the original McDonald's, that will surely cause outrage and open a whole new can of worms!

Yes you would need a lot of memory for 125 days, if it were shot at 30 FPS--24/7.... but it was not. One frame every 10 seconds was the beginning average then 1 every 5. Still a lot to ingest. I did offload the camera every 7 days so I wouldn't run out of storage.

The only thing changing in these stores is...wait for it... Cosmetics. With the exception of an additional drive thru lane and order kiosks, there is no difference in store operations. 6 billion dollars was put into changing the way the store looks, vs. changing the way the food tastes or making your experience more convenient. The only thing those kiosks improve is orders per hour. It doesn't make you get your food any faster, as the production process remains the same.

Just curious, For the people who worked at the old building, when they closed it down for the last time, do all of the workers for the time being have to find another job somewhere else until this new building is completed and then they get yto come back abd start working again or do they just get relocated to another Mcdonalds somewhere else until this one gets done, and alos if I may ask, for the 1 month and whatever days it was that there were lets say out of work, do they still get paid or how does that normally work?????

Andrew, as I understand it, all the employees are sent to another one of (4) locations to work until completed. I don't know if that applies only to full time workers or part time as well.

They’re all generally wood stick framed except for the bolt up steel frame for the playplace. In modern construction, brick is a veneer or siding material, not a structural material.

They are Cheap and holding ;BUT in a Case of Fire they weaken fast under Heat the lose their holding power. The Roof came down without a Warning. Building looks fantastic, but the only thing they could have done better was to make a better Mcdonalds sign out by the street, really like the ones with Mcdonalds imprinted in the Red area below the M and then undernieth it it has the slogan Billions and Billions Served right undernieth the word McDonalds, then some of them also have that Yellow thing attached below the red part where they could advertise their specials or whatever else they wanted to put there, That Mcdonalds sign out by the street just looked a little on the Plain side With just the BIG yellow M and pretty much nothing else But AWESOME job on the new building, wish you could have posted a second video of what the inside looked like of the old building then what the inside looked like of the new one

I had to increase the speed of playback at one point--thus I had to cut out a lot of downtime due to weather issues and construction standstill periods. That sort of changed the base time code. So I had to estimate some of the time compression that took place because of that. It was still 125 days total. Was not easy keeping track of it all.

We still have some older style McDonalds still here in the City Where I live hard to believe old is gone new is in I remember when I was little in a Foster Home My FosterParents were at the Hospital with a sick Child ( the Child was in close to a month) There Daughter Vicki and her Husband Lonnie and Daughter Elissa were staying with us during that time I was watching cartoons and Vicki said Kelly u have no School tomorrow do u? I said No Vicki said Guess what? and I Say What? Vicki Says U and Elissa are going to work with me tomorrow I looked Confused Saying Im to little to get a job Vicki Says No I meant Thrursday is my Paper Route Day and since nobody will be home to be with u Im taking U and Elissa with me. So the next day we got into the Van she was borrowing to deliver the NewsPapers and since the Van had no seats to carry passengers Me and Elissa were using the floor to sit down LunchTime came Vicki went into the drivethru ordering a meal adult sized then ordered 2 Happy Meals and me and Elissa ate and took a nap after we were done it was so fun to eat that Happy Meal

TechMasterJason I remember when I was a little kid, my older cousin would take me to the McDonald’s by the house that I currently live in (which I believe was built in the late ‘90s), and I played in the play place, and the play place sign had colorful big letters, but of course in 2017 or so it was completely renovated into the ugly box shape design and it still has a play place, but the new play place logo sign is just a boring lowercase letter one (like the one in the other McDonald’s rebuild video). And now that place is just a hot mess. Dark, boring, pathetic, ugly, depressing, etc.
