A Mealybug Infestation? How to Get Rid of Mealybugs for Good!

Hey, this is really helpful, I saw some people use this recipe, and all though I never tryed that mix because by now I had only few mealyes on my cacti so it was easy to get rid of them, but good to know for future🤗🤗🤗

Hey Liam.. you touched a sore point in my plant parenting. These stinky pests have been a super thorn in my side. I had several plants infected by them last year (a good 20 or more) and I'm still fighting them off today. They did get my bird of paradise, pineapple plant, and a few others. I still see them on 3 plants today, though the numbers are much much less (there might be 3-6 on a plant if not less). They are very annoying b/c I want them gone. I recently had, what I believe are thrips, on my monsteras and rubber plants. Then there were spider mites on a couple of my alocasia/calocasia. And last but not least, I am seeing these tiny white bugs in my biOrb!! OMG!!! I am going to lose it. So far so good with the thrips and spider mites, but those dang mealybugs. I'm trying to freeze them out. It's been pretty cool here and the temps are not reaching above 70 for most of the days. I will leave my window open for a few hours where I have the plant that they just keep coming back. I'm willing to let the plant die just so that I know they are dead b/c they froze to death. It is not a pricey plant and I can find it without issue.

Great video. I find mealy bugs on my Hoyas primary, thank goodness since they are generally a smaller plant for me. I also use alcohol and water but with a soap, not detergent. I could be wrong but I feel soap is more gentle on the plant itself than detergent is.

Thank you Sherry! They do seem to love Hoyas especially, they must taste better to mealybugs 😆 Soap could be a better choice, although I haven't had issues with dish soap so far. Something to look into for sure!

After I brought my cactus inside last fall I found mealys on the barrel cactus.. And even though I have been using rubbing alcohol and a qtip it has been an ongoing issue. I will freak if they find my orchids!
