Italia is littered with small castles you can buy cheap, the problems are maintaining and fixing and replacing, a guy in KZbin has film a few of abandoned castles. Sad to see them go. A lot of work just to keep it clean.

Castles like this usually only have a few heated rooms (heated modernly that is.) for example, the bedrooms of the inhabitants, the family kitchen and maybe some other lounge rooms are heated but the rest are usually left off and closed so the elements don’t interfere
@wendellbatts24773 жыл бұрын
Maintaining these castles is how the nobles went broke and the banker class came to power bailing them out of debt and keeping them in their massive crumbling homes. In Europe the majority of arranged marriages were predicated upon hooking up with families that could simply help pay the bills.

Fun Fact: This castle bore witness to the pivotal Battle of Pavia in 1525, and the buildings currently there are only a portion of the original Mirabello Castle. King Francis I and some of his nobles actually resided in the castle during the Siege of Pavia.

It’s a shame Covid had to come along and spoil things. A wedding in a castle would be a dream. But I wouldn’t want to do the cleanup. And I would cringe -maybe even cry-if someone spilled red wine on one of those stunning rugs. You would definitely need to have the “find my phone” capability on if you lived there and I guess spend your days living under the WiFi antenna. I can’t imagine that aggravation. We live in a 20’ travel trailer and struggle with our internet connection.

Living in a castle is just a fantasy made by Hollywood fantasies and movies. But in reality living in a castle is like living in a dungeon with windows because stone is the worst kind of building material to live in. It has no control over humidity or temperature which makes it unpleasant for humans. ICK.

Beautiful historic building and interesting story, but please stop indulging these pretenders who call themselves by titles, like "Count". Italy abolished the monarchy and the aristocracy in the 1940s. There are no more Counts, Dukes, Princes, etc. Only some silly rich folks looking for ways to put themselves above their countrymen. I guess simply being rich and comfortable isn't enough for them. Pathetic.
