Diehard Freo here. You would be absolutely full of rocks if you don't pick West Coast, one of the most successful clubs with a great area to live with the best rivalry in the comp. Lot of rumours around as usual. Reid may have expressed some reservations about leaving Victoria, but he is a kid and leaving home for the other side of the country can be daunting. I think it's normal to have doubts about moving interstate for any job, particularly when you are young. So I'm not sure it's a really big issue. I expect if we get the number 1 pick we will pick him. If after two years he wants out, well that is his choice isn't it? We all have a choice when it comes to where we want to live and work. The contract for draftees is only two years for a reason - so that kids can exercise that choice if they need to. If he did want to leave after two years then he will have currency in the market which reflects how well he has performed. No big deal.

But maybe also it's worth a reminder that unless his career is seriously derailed (eg Venables), he's going to have great opportunity going forward, whatever happens. I agree. Not his choice where he goes. He can pull a JHF and then the eagles will just get a very good ransom for him. As a Freo fan I'd rather WC draft Reid & force him to see out his contract. It will be up to him whether he wants to be a Horne Francis & sook about it or be like Chris Judd and at least give 5 years of his best footy to the club. You have all the financial backing you need. 3. Most members out of any club in the AFL 4. Always packed home Crowds no matter your position on the ladder. 5. Best sporting facilities. 6. I think North's list is similar to West Coast in terms of chasing a premiership if North were a chance to get Harley Reid he would join Harry Sheezel and George Wardlaw as A grade young talent If Harley Reid doesn't want to leave Victoria he shouldn't really have too . I was under the impression that west coast would be looking to find more talent in their own backyard than hellbent on chasing a Victorian country kid for this upcoming draft

He's doing you a favor, in 2 years time he'll pull what Ollie Henry did at Collingwood. Now you have invested 2 years of development on a kid you won't reap the rewards from. Fact is West Coast need to address their injury issues more than anything else which hasn't just occurred this season. West Coast are further away from a flag than North Melbourne, West Coast's list is old and they have hung onto those 2018 guys for too long.

West Coast have 7 players on their list that are 30 or older, which is pretty much the competition average. Geelong by contrast have 13! And won a flag last year, so don't agree with the idea the list is too old. Agree though that there needs to be a shake up of the strength and conditioning system at the club. That has been identified as a priority now - 12 months later than it should have been.

Sorry but I don't see a future for the Eagles, they haven't laid out any real foundations of where they want to be in the next 3 to 5 years. The sheer arrogance from those who have been in the club long enough of not taking a rebuild seriously and persisting with washed up ex-champions of the game every week has taken a toll on the field this year. They have some good up and coming talent, but not enough of it to be serious finals contenders in the coming years. I think if Reid ends up at West Coast he'll want to request a trade after a year, perhaps the Eagles should consider giving up pick one for a host of early round picks to speed things up for the long term future of the club.

1. He hasn't said any such thing. Regardless, draft tampering happens all the time, including by West Coast. How do you think they got Jack Darling to slip into the second round? Leaked a couple of stories re behaviour - 1 true, 1 untrue - to ward off other clubs. 2. North are miles ahead of the Eagles rebuild. They have been too deluded to even understand they need one. 3. If this season finally sends the msg to West Coast they must rebuild, then they themselves are likely to pass on Reid, instead sending pick 1 (Harley) to GWS in return for 3 picks (assuming Himmelberg leaves as a free agent)
