At 2:07 the engineer gives a horn salute and shortly afterward diverges from track 3 to track 2.

Same here Andrew ! They're becoming rarer due to Metrolink's use of the newer EMD F125 Spirit locomotives and the MP36PH-3C's. I think Go Transit uses a variant of this MP locomotive. - Larry
