This is one of my personal favorites, just because I never do these at all, and they instantly gave me a ton of new approaches. So cool, man

As with all your videos this one again goes one step further than the average git tutorial: Most would end with showing us a bunch of Am arpeggios in different positions. But you teach us how to implement the new knowledge into improvisation, turning information into music right away. This is the way Barry tought his students as well. So besides all your video content, I think the most important thing you've learned from Barry is his teaching style. Thank you so much for sharing!

Out of every Jazz teacher I have come across, or teaching method. This is the best for me so far, as these things are all concepts that we can take and apply. Meaning that we aren't just learning licks to sound like someone else. This, in my opinion is THE best way to learn Jazz music, a style that involves so much variation, creativity and freedom. It's taken me years to find someone who teaches in a way that makes sense to me. Means a lot. Thanks so much!

Awesome lesson! You put in just the right amount of information for me to go lightbulb and start applying that surprisingly simple yet clever concept, but still kept it short and compact. Thanks a lot, very much appreciated! 👌

Keep it up, Chris! I love watching and learning from your videos. Barry's approaches, though daunting at the beginning, prove right to be very straightforward and logical. Thanks for helping way much more to get the hang of his teachings through your delectable teaching style.

Love it, I’ve never had an understanding of my instrument on this level until now. Like you have said, the more you learn the more you realize how little you know. I realize now more than ever, Barry truly is a freak of nature.

The stairway to heaven move on A minor! Like in that song I wonder if you could get some interesting contrapuntal lines going while moving the root down half a step.

Hi Chris, another great video brother! I'm working on altered sounds using Barry's system and have been looking at a chord that pops up quite often. The 9(#11) i.e. D9(#11) on Take the "A" Train or Eb9(#11) on A night in Tunisia etc. Am I correct in using the m6 built on the 5th of the Tri-tone? For example: On Take the "A" Train D9(#11) I could use Am6 up and down? Or on Tunisia over the Eb9(#11) use Bbm6 Up to Dm6 Up? I noticed in the video you did on Tunisia you'd used Eb7 Up, but the melody contains the 9th and #11. Eb7 is the TT of A7 so Bbm6 is the 5th of the TT. Of course the Whole Tone scale is always an option too. Thanks in advance my friend! 🙏😊🎸🎵

Chris, does Barry have any "important arpeggios" for major and/or minor?

I’ve been basically binge watching your channel since I found it. Such great stuff. I had a question from one of your other videos... So, Barry conceives of all chords as being from the 6th dim scale. What about a #9 chord? I couldn’t figure out how that would line up.

xx7898 is a rootless F7#9. It is a “back door” to G maj 7. Its “source” is C-6 /A with borrowed alto note from the B dim of the C-6 dim scale.
