I don't see what all the negative comments are about. This little project turned out to be a real winner. It started with a great idea, then ended up being a perfectly working battery operated window blind. I challenge anyone who thought this was a waste of their time to come up with something better.

I'm disappointed by most of the comments. Why can't people just move on instead of being rude? The usefullness of the project outcome is often less important to the creator than the design and execution of the idea. Your design and execution, especially the attention to detail is AWESOME. As a maker myself, I understand this concept. It takes an incredible amount of thought and creativity to make something like this. I applaud your skills and time spent to make the project and video. Thank you

I really appreciate how you thought about what the door lifter was. A motor that could be powered by a 12v battery with enough torque to do some real work. In re orientating it, we can see how it really has potential outside its intended use. Mounted sideways connected to a long rod actually makes me see more ways a motor could be used. Thanks for teh inspiration. Now to get a few old window lifter motors now that I see what they were built for......high torque situations. thx.

Good job Bro... just don't pay any attention to the negative comments. The most important thing is the satisfaction of having something you wanted done by yourself... you don't have to be liked by everybody.

Better yet. Don't pay attention to the people who tell you not to pay attention to negative comments. Those are the ones that don't have you best interests in mind.

What would be really great would be a little string with a ring on the end. You know, in case the power goes out.

@@Greg042869 You'll never be able to pull on a string hard enough to overcome the torque of the gearing. It would be like trying to force down a car window without breaking the glass. And It's powered by a battery which he attaches at about the 9:15 point in the video. :-)

Exactly! All of the negative comments people post on these things get me...if you don't want to waste 10 mins of your life to watch the video (which is plain to see is done mostly for laughs) why did you bother posting multiple comments here? If you don't like it, don't watch it, block the channel and move on with your life. Or get one. I think this guy is hilarious and his vids make me smile, occasionally I will learn a neat trick that I can use later. Mostly these are for laughs, that's it. He is not trying to teach you woodworking. When reading all the "timewaster" comments all I can hear is whoosh. 🙁🙄 Keep up the videos dude, most people love them! Have fun and stay safe!

@@earlware4322 my thoughts exactly. So many negativity in this world today. If it's not of interest pass It on don't just sit and cry about it, some of the best ideas start that way. I even thought about putting a lift chair motor on my bed to elevate it when my stomach acts up...short of spending several hundred on a lift bed.

I was just asking myself, what can I do with all the window lift motors I've accumulated and along comes a miracle in the suggested videos list. If I only had a window I could call my own. I'll be back for more inspiration in the future. Thanks.

Probably is a miracle to him because I bet he used a ladder every day to open his blind and didn't realise he could have put a string on it.

That was a total waste of time!! Glad I read the comments to skip to the end first!! It amazes me how many people don't wear safety glasses when using power tools - A very stupid habit!! Great use of car window motor if you need a roller shade i guess.
