Of course you are good enough to be in the gallery Helen, your work is lovely and will be very popular! This is a gorgeous (very sellable!) painting, the best watercolours are not overworked. Best wishes for the operation x

Helen, congratulations on your gallery membership! You are an amazing artist and they are so lucky to have you as a member of their community. In my opinion, this painting reached beyond the sketch stage, it is now a beautiful finished piece. Good luck with your surgery and speedy and complete healing! ❤

Ugh, I am so sorry you have to go through that. I've had one, and recovery is not fun. All I can say is that become a physical therapy fanatic. That will help you recover quickly, even if it gets more painful before it gets better. Mine was 4 years ago and I rarely even think of it anymore. Of all the joints to get replaced, this is the easiest on the body, unlike knees and shoulders. Congrats on the gallery acceptance! Lovely painting, btw!

Thank you for the advice! I'm a big believer in physio too! (Went back to being a firefighter after a total abdominal hysterectomy, and never felt better!) Thanks!

I hope your surgery can be scheduled quickly, if you are in pain, it will help immediately. I had to have one 23 years ago best thing ever. Congratulations on the Gallery membership! That is beautiful news, so happy for you Helen!

You are good enough! I love your work, I only wish I lived closer to see your paintings on the wall. Marazion is lovely, I spent 10 wonderful days there some years ago. This painting is another beauty. Mx

So cool to see your process with this piece. It came out very well I think. Congrats on your joining the gallery. My aunt just had a hip replacement on October 31 and she is now without chronic pain and is walking all over the house, and doing stairs a bit! I hope the best for you also! Love your videos. I have learned a lot from you. Thank you!

Thank you! I really need to get working on some new ones by December! In my surgeon's words 'you'll spend the first four months really regretting getting it done'!! Hopefully after that it won't be so bad!
@FaithAnnNB12 күн бұрын
@ Oh wow, 4 months sounds intimidating, but I’m sure you’ll feel so much better after that it will be worth it. Hopefully you’ll be able to find comfortable positions for doing art during your recovery so you’ll have a distraction! You might need to do a little supply shopping for the endorphin boost!!

Congratulations on your gallery collective membership. I'm sure you'll do well and enjoy it. Yikes on the hospital visit and future op, I'm guessing you preferred todays sketch. I loved watching your painting develop as usual. I like the process. My art muse is still off visiting some other artist or wherever it goes when I don't have it, so I'm pottering around just to keep doing something creative. Today I ordered a couple of ShinHan PWC watercolor tubes to try out. Becky Tregear had them on her channel today. They're pro watercolors and I'm still checking out my options for pro quality, lightfast paint at a reasonable price. If these are good I'll be switching my basic palette colors to a combination of PWC and Holbein. Then I'll only be buying my favorite Daniel Smith and Schmincke granulating colors at the $$$$$ price. I don't see the point in paying $30 for a 15ml tube of DS yellow ochre, burnt umber or sepia, when I can get the same in Holbein for $22 or PWC for $8. I only paid $7-$9 per Holbein tube the last time they were on special. PWC on a special would be 😍 provided I like my test tubes when they arrive.

Thank you! I hope your muse returns soon! I haven't tried PWC, but hope they're decent!

Congratulations! I'm so damn thrilled for you and really chuffed that it's a collective you're joining. I too have been part of an all female collective and I loved it. Had to give up due to health (same old story) but I'm actually thinking of joining them again but as an artist on consignment instead of part of the collective. Lots of wonderful support and friendships with like-minded people and chatting with customers is such a joy (which is also why I loved doing markets). I'm thinking that every single artist ever has second-guessed the readiness of their work before putting it out there and on gallery walls. It's a big step. You've got this. Have a brilliant weekend and thanks for starting mine off with such a fab video! 😎
@helencryer12 күн бұрын
That sounds great, and wonderful if you could be part of it again! Thank you! Thankfully it's not one of the ultra posh expensive ones - it's just a little one with a really nice feeling to it. One of the reasons I love doing my craft market so much, is the interaction with customers side of it! I will love manning the gallery!

I've been doing that method for years (30) and it teaches you to b confident in your work and where you put it. It scares most people. I really hate the name splodge and scribble tho, sorry but it triggers me like nothing else lol
@helencryer13 күн бұрын
Great! I'll have to try and remember to include a trigger warning in future! 😂 It just describes perfectly how I work though - a bit of splodging, with a bit of scribbling on top!
@JulianneHesketh13 күн бұрын
@@helencryer ROFL, no need, hehe. It's so much more than that, though. You aren't giving yourself enough credit! It takes an awful lot of practice to be able to do all the 'splodging and scribbling', which involves learning and developing strong hand-eye coordination. Give yourself credit for all the work you put in to make something of your 'splodges and scribbles'.
