I absolutely love seeing this beutiful piece of mechanical engineering trundling along the freeway with all the cars going by. You are one lucky owner. Much love from the States

Fowlers are my favourite makers, the B6 road loco is my favourite Fowler, and this is my favourite B6. An absolute beauty and a credit to the late Len Crane.

Beautifully filmed narrative video. I love the lack of voice overs enabling the engine to be really heard. A masterpiece

That thing went a lot faster on that highway, than I would've expected.

For that much steel rolling down the road it sure is quiet. Even when idling if it wasn't for the smoke, looking at a distance you wouldn't even know it was running. Magnificent

Wonderful to see the engine being well looked after 👍 Len was a great engineer from the Black country who I first met when he ran trucks from his yard in Oldbury West Midlands and also saw him many times at the Newhall street rally Birmingham Science Museum each May, the only street rally in a City Center location.

The Fowler is still owned by Jane and run by good friends - it's still very much appreciated and looked after.

Isn't it the one from Peaky Blinders?🌚 I think I recognized it.

Yes, the owner lived not far from The Black Country Museum where a certain amount of the series was filmed, so it was a local engine.

I would have liked to see it pick up a car with crane.

It has been used for such stunts in the past. One year at the Welland steam rally there was an arena show which saw a scrap-yard car run over by an ex-military tank. The remains were then picked up by this engine to be taken out of the arena.

Any more details of the lubrication problem? Big end on the LP? Is the engine 2 or 3 speed? Thank you for sharing.
@IACooper Жыл бұрын
Should be all sorted by now. The LP side was fully fixed at the side of the road once a source of 3/8" Whit bolts was located and brought 2 miles down the road to where the engine was. The issue on the HP side was identified the next morning and the offending lubricator taken back to workshop facilities to sort. I believe the engine should be out at its next event as planned a week today. Both issues were fairly minor things - just at the side of the road with few facilities to hand and limited daylight it reached a point where it was better to phone ahead to the destination to request a lift rather than push on and risk causing damage which would take far more time to resolve.

Firstly thanks for sharing this clip. Would you know what type of crane work the engine undertook during its working life ? Was the crane original build or added later Thanks
