I'm amazed by this beautiful steam tractor, but I am also astonished by video quality and editing.

The Foster chimney gets narrower towards the top. I've never seen that before on any traction engine. The boiler looks curiously long too.

Yes, the inverse taper on the chimney has attracted much comment to the owner - but the works drawings and original photographs do show it that way, which is why he's made the new chimney accordingly.

8:21 onwards. The blue car is travelling at road speed. It slows the lorry behind does not slow as mush. It wants to push the car. The car sees a possible overtake but obviously abandons that. The lorry almost collides with eh car because they too thought about overtaking. I can see hand signals being used. I can see lights on the small trailer. Do they work? Was the turn signal being used and teh hand signal being used a precaution to warn following traffic? Nicely shot video, no words; no music, apart from the song of the mechanicals working.

The steam tractor is not fitted with indicators, therefore the law requires the use of hand signals instead - which as shown in the video, were being used. The driver of the car saw the indication to turn right and slowed accordingly. Clearly the driver of the lorry was too busy looking up the road to see the vehicle in front was indicating right. The driver of the lorry also must have forgotten Rule 167 of the highway code which states "_DO NOT overtake where you might come into conflict with other road users. For example approaching or at a road junction on either side of the road..._". The same rule also says about not overtaking a vehicle that is indicating to turn right. That said, when they did realise the driver ahead was indicating right they were able to take evasive action and avoid a collision without skidding or otherwise losing control of their vehicle. The modern 2 wheel trailer is fitted with lights for when it is towed by a modern vehicle that is equipped with electric indicators. The law on indicating relates to the towing vehicle and its equipment, not what that vehicle is towing - so whether that has indicators on it or not is irrelevant.

Built in hot water spray down, that is trick. You almost caught a big accident happening, that blue Peugeot and white Volvo lorry almost had a moment, lorry breaking and going sideways and also getting caught by the wind, had they gone into the steam engine it would have been a really bad day for all. That blue Ipswich one looked like a tricked out late model.

In principle happy with the idea if I knew when the engine was out on the road somewhere. In practice I don't know the owner of that engine and it isn't based around the same part of the country as I am, so I suspect it'll be very unlikely I'll get the opportunity to chase it with a camera.

That white lorry about eight minutes in ! Approached way too fast anyway, expected to pull straight around the engine, then had to swerve back in at the last minute as they were turning right! Pity there was no company name on it, would been good to send to his firm as evidence of poor driving.

Many drivers these days aren't used to hand signals and was probably too busy looking up the straight and empty road ahead
