I think what he meant to say is "Don't set a budget without familiarizing yourself first with the market and the construction industry." Because a lot of people demand for a really good design without considering the design fee, construction costs and material costs. So I think the best way to say it is to make sure that your design demands will fit your budget, and researching will be a very important part of it.

What I'm really trying to say is, to achieve a project of this level, you may want to start conceptualizing your desired design first before giving us your budget. From there we can adjust the design according to your financial capacity. I'm really sorry, This was my first interview ever, non-scripted na,kabado pa. I just really got excited at that time 😅. I dont agree with no limit in budget... you have to give to your designer your cost limitations and it's up to then designer to make the best designs he can provide based on your criteria and needs. No cost limit is not a sound engineering andd architectural approach...just saying.

He's saying that to gaslight the clients into thinking that way to his advantage :) . There are options on which materials to use -according to the budget. But of course, architects/ contractors / designers would want to work with a client with unlimited budget because they get more in labor/service charges :D I think most charge at least 5-15% of the total cost of the project and some say they get a percentile , too, from the suppliers of certain materials bought. His audacity to even say that was a huge turn off for me to possibly use his services in the future.

@@GeeMiguel We understand it perfectly- nothing wrong with our comprehension. At 03:58 he wants the client to see/ envision how beautiful the design could be BEFORE making the budget. So, possibly the client would be enticed to spend more. And it's not uncommon for the architect/ contractor/designer/suppliers to 'work' together. That's just sales :) Anyways, there are architects though that work with a budget on the onset - and that is good. Cheers.

What kind of architect recommends to the client "to not think of the budget"? I know it offers a ton of freedom for the architect, but a GOOD architect can take a small budget and still manage to exceed the client's expectations.

Wala akong insults na sinabi sa original comment ko; all I said was a good architect can take a small budget and still manage to exceed the client's expectations. *Expectations is the key word. A budget of 50K would only do so much, which is a given -- hindi lang halata sayo kasi nga makitid utak mo, insults lang nalalaman kasi palengkera ka. It's at the discretion of the client to manage their own expectations of their X-budget -- at the same time a *good architect levels with their client to make sure they know what to expect. Even still, even with a certain 50K expectation from the client, a good architect will manage to either meet their expectations or exceed it.

"Quality over Quantity" the architect has a point. We don't have to set a budget if we do, diba po sisisihin naten sila sa huli. Ang panget may leak, sa una mahal pero makakatipid din tayo, if we keep on buying cheap stuff mag papatong patong pa yung expenses. There is an architect for a reason. And not everything is based on money.

i also agree that we should go for the design first before preparing for the budget because the aim is the design of the that will satisfy us, because if the designs depends on the budget then the designer will limit its design according to the amount given so some suitable materials will not be used and alternatives ones will be sought for which is not good because it will alter the result... go for the design first then strive to meet the desired budget... just my opinion 😂😂😂😂😂
