Andrew Elbo's parents own a small lot by the river in Lumban, Laguna. Initially, Andrew thought of making a bahay kubo where his family can hang out. But instead, he decided to build a tiny house!

*_Technically this is not a container, nilagyan nila ng Rib-type roofing yung walls sa labas para magmukhang Containier. But they still did a good job. Isang factor din dyan yung location ng property, maganda kasi yung lupa nila tsaka maluwag._*

There is one chinese here in pasay city who built a 4 storey building( actually an apartment building) made of container. He erected it side by side then cut off the sides and viola a big 4 storey building. It looks more beautiful than its neighbors.

What the public don't know is that container homes are much expensive than a typical modern houses, especially if its build in the Philippines. The advantage is just cutting the cost of labor.

Everything is expensive if you don't know people in construction. TIny homes are still not widely accepted but it's much more tougher than conventional buildings.

@@delconagher12 Uhmm... Obviously people already know about that, but if we're trying to compare the typical concrete house over this container house then the gap is huge. This is much expensive.

@@harveyscottz yes. I already calculated it and that is absolutely true. Many people romanticize a container home but never actually called up and shopped for containers. Old retired containers will mostly be unusable and used ones will still be expensive. Especially shipping and transportation to location. If you want to combine multiple containers you will have to cut them up, ruining the structural integrity of the containers and making them unstable. To make them work you would have to go in and add extra reinforcement yourself- adding extra costs on top of it all. By the time Youre done, it wont even resemble a container. Adding insulation and flooring makes the already tiny container even smaller also. Ventilation, rust control over time, running electricity throughout, rainproofing: all extra modifications. The metal exterior will be hell in PH weather. You will be cooked! Just building a concrete home is still the simplest and most cost effective way to go.

@@TheRogerrazon Don't fall in love too much with Bamboos here in the Philippines. I love the idea of using local & sustainable materials but we sometimes tend to forget we have a lot of termites.

@@TheRogerrazon Hi! 1.) Termite treatment or soil poisoning has expiration. There's no problem with Bamboo, as long as it has proper treatment which is costly and Bamboo doesn't last very long(brittle) under rain and sun. 2.)A foot gap above the ground doesn't work. Trust me. Termites will find a way, even inside the concrete. 3.) Sand doesn't also work. This is not to discourage you for using Bamboo materials. In fact I encouraged it. I'm just telling you the downside for using it. Just telling you that if you have limited money and don't have time for treatment and in the years to come. The best solution is a treated hardwood as a substitute for bamboo. There are also synthetic materials that looks like a wood/bamboo.
