Hi Charlotte, I love your videos! I am really wanting to go to RN school but I am hesitant to because I feel like I might fail. Do you have any advice to get over that fear? Best wishes from Buffalo New York USA.

Hi lovely! Thank you so much for supporting my channel :) I totally understand where you're coming from as I also worry deeply about getting things right and passing. My best advice is that sometimes you just have to do it and push through! I went through a hard time in my second year where I had lots of self-doubt and I fell behind, I really wanted to drop out, but pushing through led me to an amazing third year and now my career! I also think talking to others really helps because they can give advice or new perspectives, and working with others - I had a group chat with a couple of nursing school friends where we helped each other through. My last thing that has helped me since high school is making study schedules, because I feel like it calms me down as I feel more in control of the situation. When I do that, I know exactly what I have to get done and when, and it makes me feel more prepared. If you're worried about falling behind, you could start off with a small study schedule prior to starting just to brush up on some basic anatomy and health, so you walk into nursing school feeling a bit more confident. I loved Lecturio (which has a free platform) - they do bite sized videos which explain health topics really well so maybe start with something like that? Sorry I know that's all such bleurgh advice but that was what genuinely helped me through :) Nursing school is a roller coaster ride but I am so grateful that I did it, so I hope you're able to go and start your nursing journey! You're so capable and I know you can do it xxx

@@charlottemiriam Thank you so much! I am looking into different avenues I can take to become an RN in the States. You only need to have 2 years of school to be eligible to take the NCLEX boards and I already have a lot of prerequisites done for my bachelor's degree in psychology. I am applying to be a nurse's aide so hopefully, that will give me more experience. I really appreciate your encouragement. Best of luck on finishing your diabetes seminar it seems really interesting.

I still have a notebook like yours for blood test results and other wee reminder things. I have been a practice nurse for 6 years, proir to that was rest home after graduation, and I'm still learning! I feel your pain with the task box!, but I love practice nursing.

I love this so much! And that's so reassuring to hear because it does get difficult when I start comparing myself to my colleagues and how much knowledge they have :) I am loving practice nursing and feel so grateful for getting this as my job, so the task box is worth it hehe

Is it true that new graduate RNs are not getting hired in NZ?
@charlottemiriam

Hi lovely, not entirely! In hospitals I think from next year they will be pausing the new entry to practice programmes, which is the new graduate program you do for assessments and extra support in your first year of nursing. So new graduates will still be able to apply for jobs and get hired, but it won't be for entry into the NETP program, which kind of sucks :(
