Hi Charlotte, I have always had good grades in anatomy and physiology, but the thing is, I forgot most of them after the exam, which made me a bit worried. Do you use them a lot after being a registered nurse, please? 😢

Hi lovely! Thank you for watching my video, I completely understand what you mean because this was me with pharmacology! You do use anatomy and physiology quite a lot, but I would also say that once you're working or doing your placements, I find that you'll remember things easier and for longer because you have the practical experience to support your knowledge. Another thing to remember is that when you're on placements or in your first nursing job, your colleagues will be really aware and understanding that you're new and still learning, and won't judge if you have to ask questions or for help. So try not to stress! You're doing a wonderful job and will be an amazing nurse xx

@charlottemiriam
@charlottemiriam 4 күн бұрын
Hi lovely, thanks for watching - I think this question would best be put forward to a dietician or your GP as it is actually quite complex. Everyone is different and so needs different things to nourish them, you would have to take into account what non-veg or veg foods you were eating, how much, when etc to properly answer this question, which I am unable to do. Sorry that I can't help more!

Is it true that new graduate RNs are not getting hired in NZ?
@charlottemiriam
@charlottemiriam 19 күн бұрын
Hi lovely, not entirely! In hospitals I think from next year they will be pausing the new entry to practice programmes, which is the new graduate program you do for assessments and extra support in your first year of nursing. So new graduates will still be able to apply for jobs and get hired, but it won't be for entry into the NETP program, which kind of sucks :(

Hi Charlotte, I love your videos! I am really wanting to go to RN school but I am hesitant to because I feel like I might fail. Do you have any advice to get over that fear? Best wishes from Buffalo New York USA.
@charlottemiriam
@charlottemiriam 19 күн бұрын
Hi lovely! Thank you so much for supporting my channel :) I totally understand where you're coming from as I also worry deeply about getting things right and passing. My best advice is that sometimes you just have to do it and push through! I went through a hard time in my second year where I had lots of self-doubt and I fell behind, I really wanted to drop out, but pushing through led me to an amazing third year and now my career! I also think talking to others really helps because they can give advice or new perspectives, and working with others - I had a group chat with a couple of nursing school friends where we helped each other through. My last thing that has helped me since high school is making study schedules, because I feel like it calms me down as I feel more in control of the situation. When I do that, I know exactly what I have to get done and when, and it makes me feel more prepared. If you're worried about falling behind, you could start off with a small study schedule prior to starting just to brush up on some basic anatomy and health, so you walk into nursing school feeling a bit more confident. I loved Lecturio (which has a free platform) - they do bite sized videos which explain health topics really well so maybe start with something like that? Sorry I know that's all such bleurgh advice but that was what genuinely helped me through :) Nursing school is a roller coaster ride but I am so grateful that I did it, so I hope you're able to go and start your nursing journey! You're so capable and I know you can do it xxx

@@charlottemiriam Thank you so much! I am looking into different avenues I can take to become an RN in the States. You only need to have 2 years of school to be eligible to take the NCLEX boards and I already have a lot of prerequisites done for my bachelor's degree in psychology. I am applying to be a nurse's aide so hopefully, that will give me more experience. I really appreciate your encouragement. Best of luck on finishing your diabetes seminar it seems really interesting.

Heyy cutie , im a new watcher and i just want to say congratulations on graduating and becoming a registered nure; so amazing, lovely! I applied for nursing at AUT but i did not do sciences at schhol- bio chem or phys - will that be bad for me? Im a little worried that my lack of knowledge in those areas will cause me so much trouble. Am i fine without taking these important sciences?
@charlottemiriam
@charlottemiriam 19 күн бұрын
Hey lovely! Thank you so much for supporting my channel! I really appreciate it :) I always tell people not to worry if they haven't done any science in school - at uni, they will tech each paper from scratch, under the assumption that it is entirely new information to everyone. There is also a mix of students, like some people will be returning to uni after a career change and may not have come straight from school, so the lecturers kind of have to teach everything from scratch anyway! I think the most important thing is that during the semester you put a little bit of time aside to study for your papers, and then you will be totally fine :) You've got this!

also i wanted to ask what is the Difference between the universities in nz and polytech institutions
@charlottemiriam
@charlottemiriam Ай бұрын
Hi lovely! Thank you for watching my video :) I think the main difference is that polytechnics tends to focus more on practical hands on skills than universities do. Another difference is the type of programs offered, like at polytechnics, it is unusual for them to offer papers like classics or law, while it would be unusual for universities to offer papers like hairdressing or makeup artistry. I think also class sizes at polytechnics are a lot smaller. I really hope this answers your question!

I think things just get a bit hectic in your last semester because you juggle your ACE application, transition placement, your assessments and might start thinking about the states, but aside from that I always found that there was plenty of time to study throughout my nursing school journey! When preparing for the states exam, at AUT we had a whole month where we had nothing else going on aside from states study, so no placements, other assessments or lectures, it was just one whole month to prep for the exam. I didn't mean to scare you lovely! You'll have plenty of time to study xx
