A monk's merry band (marble kingdoms blooper?)

Not just a marble battle, but the entire war.
Armies travel randomly across the map, engaging in combat if they meet. Once conquered, towns will produce more fighters for the player. Whenever the army goes to the home city or a friendly town, it will reinforce itself with fighters.
Fighters gain experience by scoring kills. If a fighter gains enough experience it will level up, gaining perks like additional hit points, speed and/or equipment.
Destroy all the enemy kings and armies to win!
This recording was made for Marble Kingdoms 22, but unused due to reasons. Certain units and abilities were nerfed afterwards.

I feel like if a monk gets killed all the marbles converted by it should return to their original color. This could lead to some funny situations where in a battle between two colors some marbles could suddenly turn into a third color. It could even cause some marbles inside a city to suddenly become enemies and trigger a battle if their controlling monk died in some remote battle. Or you could of course also make it so that converted marbles are always in the same army as their controlling monk.

What about a kind of tech tree specifically designed to counter units like the monk? Maybe the kingdoms have a choice between a monk or an inquisitor for example. If they pick the monk then they can convert and heal their armies. If they pick the inquisitor, then the inquisitor can turn people in their army into incorruptible warriors after repeated use of an aura that functions much like the monks healing ability. A paladin if you will. I give this suggestion for two reasons. 1 - A good counter to monks doesn’t exist yet (mages and archers don’t suffice) and therefore, monks have way more power on the battlefield than I think they should be able to. 2 - I think that the idea of certain units being unlocked or locked could be an interesting way to introduce tech trees to some degree. Take the monk and inquisitor for example. Depending on whether or not the kingdoms pick inquisitor or monk for their religious unit (which could be determined using the pachinko way) then that would decide which they get whenever the ‘monk/inquisitor’ upgrade is chosen. 2.5 - add types of kingdoms: Before the war actually starts you have the different colors use the pachinko way to pick the type of kingdom. You could have a ‘Holy Order/Church’ (monks) or the ‘Holy Empire/Inquisition’ (inquisitor) (or any other type of kingdom that has a specialized unit) This way, you don’t have to worry about actually creating an actual tech tree, the kingdoms can be a little more interesting, and it could be a lot easier to create a counter or unit equivalent to any one type of unit by simply adding another unit to the other type of kingdom. You know it’s quite the ask but if you can make this happen I think it’ll be worth it.

A good counter is highly armored troops. If a monk can’t touch then then they can’t be converted. We already have highly armed troops and every single time except this one monks have been put down easily. I don’t know if he coded them differently this time, but I think that it’s fine to leave them as they are

Idea: World map runs at 10% speed during battles, which can result in reinforcements or third parties. To simplify things further, parties will always "nope" any city not under attack if a battle is always happening and either: - A: Additonal battles get their own square and further halve the world map speed or - B: Troops "queue" up (stop moving while touching) until the previous battle is done, which might result in more units showing up before the fight even starts. (This could also be done instead of always city-noping, but nopes should probably still be more likely.)

I think the homing arrows are neat. However, I think they need 2 small changes. Have them blocked by any weapon, not just shields, and have high (7+?) Level archers shoot 2 homing arrows along with their normal 2 to 3 arrows. I think it be neat.

well, with a new video, I may as well mention something I forgot to mention on the last video: I think that it would be very cool to see an indicator of what 'reinforcements' each individual color has. because while I know in the back of my head that 'city spawns an extra (whatever)' implies that there's more things behind created with every muster, I never really actively pay attention to it. so just, something somewhere that shows "oh hey, the color blue has ten warriors, four farmers, and one hammerman with every muster" might be helpful to understand what's going on.

I never thought I would be making an addendum video for a Marble Kingdoms blooper reel, but hell has indeed frozen over today. I'd say spoilers, but you see the title, let's just get this mad lad out of the way: Pope Muffinskill VIII, Level 9 and a king converter (The archers have Zaria, the berserkers have Drew, the bandits have Pretox, the kingsguards have Askgar, the mages have Elliot, and now the monks have their own legendary figurehead. Muffinskill VIII might as well be called the Marble Kingdoms Pope, because he made so many marbles repent and join his side that it wasn't funny. His dominance allowed us to see the potential of high-level monks for the first time, with the pious saint unleashing three Holy Bibles at his soon-to-be born again followers. He even managed to force the Red King to convert over to Yellow's side, which is an extremely rare feat. He was the eighth of his name, and he more than exceeded that reputation.)

Несколько идей для измениния монахов: 1) короли не могут быть загипнотезированы. Это конечно смешно но вызывает баги так что нужно либо сделать королей не подверженными гипнозу либо найти другое решение багов. Лично я за второй вариант. 2) способность "исцеление" может снимать гипноз с врагов попавших в зону действия. Если тот с кого снимают гипноз не принадлежит к тому цвету который снимает гипноз (например синий монах снял гипноз с зелёного которого загипнотизировал жёлтый) то он начинает сражатся за себя. 3) когда монах умерает, захваченные им бойцы вспоминают кто они и гипноз снимается

Spoiler warning ⚠️ Interesting, if a king is converted instead of killed the game doesnt register it as dead, and doesnt put king slain message and instead puts destroyed for the castle. Green should have been out a lot earlier but as the king was converted not killed their castle stayed. Edit: Same thing happened to red, their king was converted and even after the castle was destroyed game still put the menu for the city spawns.

Arichnope II got converted to yellow, then killed in the same battle by Kikoin, who was one of his own guards up until conversion.. Kikoin then got converted to yellow in the battle that actually destroyed green's castle. Relevant timestamps: Arichnope conversion at 15:43, Kikoin killed him at 15:54. Kikoin was then converted at 23:32, which destroyed green's castle because he was the last green marble in it at the time.

Magicians are very weak at first, they can be dealt with in a single hit, but as they level up they gain more HP and create a strong "yeet barrier" fairly often - these two combined give them a lot of sustainability and spacing so they can maintain their high DPS for way longer (or this is what I think! "^^)

Idea: The Castle should not be destroyed if only the king dies, but the attackers are driven back (it makes no sense that the base is lost because one marble dies). Either an heir should step up immediatly, or during the upgrade event, one of the choices would be to get a new King.

I'm back with some advice. For the first battle or two, add some annotation in the dead zones that explain the two meters around each marble: the green to the left and blue to the right. This will help new viewers understand what's actually going on. For instance, you could have the first battle delay for a couple seconds as a marble appears enlarged over the battlefield (darkened to improve contrast) with the two meters annotated. That's all I can come up with. Good videos.

I’ll explain why this type of escape is wrong. What happens to recruits when they flee the battlefield? That's right, they become deserters and are killed after that. They OBVIOUSLY cannot continue to fight in the same detachment; they are 100% renegades who need to be caught up and killed. Retreat can occur in two cases. 1) death of ~70% of the personnel 2) order of the commander. I believe that this is exactly how retreat should be implemented in our game. 1. When touching the edges of the screen, there is always a chance of escape (calculated relative to the commander's level). then the recruit becomes a renegade, who is an enemy of absolutely every faction and he needs to earn his forgiveness (killing 10+10 * (recruit level) enemies) 2. In the event of the loss of 70% of the squad, flight occurs the same as before (they do not become renegades). 3. In the event of an order from the commander (in the event of the loss of key fighters), the same happens as before (they do not become renegades). I would also like to note that the death of a commander affects the likelihood of desertion.

This kinda just seems like the inevitable result of a monk becoming high level. Maybe there should be some type of limit on converting or it be made rarer. Also the king stealing lol, it doesn’t make sense for a kingdom to remain if the king is converted. Either it should be destroyed or the city flips to the converted color, maybe with a chance of each soldier switching sides or deserting. But the city shouldn’t remain as it is when the king is no longer on their side.

i think monk has other attack system kind like mind or somthing, so they can easier convert low level marble easiar, but not easy to convert hight level marvel(because hit multiple time)

I think it would be cool if like the exp for marble types to level up was changed actively base on just previous statistics so that like after each round the level up requirements and exp per type killed change then like it becomes more balanced naturally
