Great video Tom! According to GRRM, the Ice Dragon isn’t part of Westeros. I’m hoping to read it soon too.

«We are the Dead» is definitly on my 2024 MBR List! My May TBR List: «The Wise Man’s Fear» by Patrick Rothfuss (Fantasy, sequel to «The Name of the Wind») «Madouc» (Lyonesse Trilogy #3) by Jack Vance ((Pre-)Arthurian Fantasy) «The Dragonbone Chair» (Memory, Sorrow, and Thorn, #1) by Tad Williams (Epic Fantasy, a key influence for George R. R. Martin's « A Song of Ice and Fire») My May MBR list: «After Rome» by Morgan Llywelyn (Historical Fiction set in Post-Roman Britain) «Idoru» by William Gibson (Cyberpunk) «Kings of the Wyld» by Nicholas Eames (Fantasy Humor) Petrik & Jake Bishop have group-pressured me (though in the nicest way, after all Petrik is Southeast Asian and Jake Canadian! 😄) into start reading «Howling Dark» right away, and I have purchased the some of the «Sun Eater» novellas on Kindle, so might also push «The Green Pearl» (Lyonesse Trilogy #2) which I had plan to read this month till May! Cheers!

I love Salem's Lot. My sister read it to me for the first time when I was around five years old and I still have that same copy, held together with ducktape and hope, and reread it pretty regularly. I think you'll really like it!

Great plans, Tom! I think reading through Memories of Ice should give you a fair sense of your potential relationship with Malazan. I hope you take a lot from it!

I highly recommend Mike Shackle. That whole trilogy is excellent!!! I’m currently doing a Cosmere reread and am on Mistborn: Secret History.

Currently reading "All the Pretty Horses" because of you, and yes... it's already one of my favorite books I've ever read. The quiet moments by the fire under the stars, the beautiful descriptions of nature and sky, the surprisingly emotional plot. THANK YOU for recommending! "Master of White Storm" is on my TBR for May as well! I don't know if you do buddy-reads or anything like that, but I'll be looking forward to hearing your thoughts on it (if you get to it). I'm a mood reader as well, so I totally understand wanting to keep things open. It's why I haven't started doing TBR videos yet, personally. It's just so hard to know what you'll want to read when the time comes! 🤔

So glad to hear you are loving All the Pretty Horses! If I do start Whitestorm I’ll let you know and we can 100% talk about it

I'm actually starting Master of Whitestorm this weekend! It's my very last Janny Wurts book to read, and I'm really excited for it! With Malazan, I had pretty much that experience every book...I definitely do appreciate it in retrospect, but I didn't have a fun time reading it.

Hi Tom! I recently discovered your channel and I love it! I also have Salem's lot on my TBR and from Stephen King I read The Shinning and 11.22.63. Ps: from another video, I also enjoyed Dan Brown, it was one of the first authors I began reading when I was 15, so I have a soft spot for his "adventures"😂

I hope we both enjoy Salem’s Lot. You’ll have to let me know what you think when you finish! I know people love to trash talk Dan Brown but his books are just fun and super easy to binge read

Curious if you'll like Supernova Era. I've only read Liu's Remembrance series and a book of short stories. And, of course, I'm SUPER curious about The Crossing. I might also read it at some point soon. Can't decide on which McCarthy to read next, lol. Good luck with your May readings.

I only know about Janny Wurts, but I hear good things. I wish I had a comment on the other maybe TBR books. Several (that book or author) are on my list as well for a future read. Nothing is really jumping out at me as a recommendation (although May is my birthday month and it would be a gift for you to read my novella that I think you would like since you like small town type stories lol). Tigana wasn't doing it for me, so I've switched to The Black Crown for my work listen (it's an ebook, but I found a way to get a decent text-to-speech going for it) and I'm really enjoying it so far. I'm also listening to Shards of Earth and it's okay. It's enjoyable, but nothing is really wowing me so far about it. I have Six Sacred Swords: Weapons and Wielders, Book 1 and Red Rising coming up in May as definite ones I'll be getting to.

Tom, I feel so bad to share that I spread misinformation in my Ice Dragon video (not totally my fault), but the story is not from the ASOIAF universe. The publishers stated it was on the cover, and GRRM later said the stories were not connected (in the comment of one of his blog posts). It makes sense that the two stories are unrelated since GRRM wrote The Ice Dragon at least 16 years before A Game of Thrones was published. It’s still a great short story with excellent illustrations! Can’t wait to hear your thoughts on all the books you decide to read this May!
