For those of us who were school-aged in the 2000s, I don't think any of us could have escaped the influence of Twilight and Harry Potter. They were everywhere. Twilight was the most influential series I read as a teenager. I wrote so much fanfiction and roleplayed on MySpace until my fingers were ready to fall off. Even now as an adult, I've re-read the first book several times and still I find it so charming.

Loved your episode yesterday w Brain! Caught it on replay. I met Brandon Mull actually because he visited my school! Super nice guy especially since he got attacked by a 11yr old overhyped girl haha the ending of The Dark Forest made me have a mental breakdown (in a good way) great video!

There are two or maybe three books that come to mind that got me back into reading. The first one was the Autobiography of Malcolm X, he was always someone I heard great quotes of him but never knew all that much of him, his life story of how he consistently bettered himself was so inspiring. I could talk endlessly about him and how important all the „character development“ led him to be at the end of his life to be a true inspiration for everyone. The other book, that I read a bit earlier was fated by benedict Jacka, I bought it because the cover ( the german ones the others are horrendous ) looked so cool and I read it at a time where I wanted to get back into reading but never fully succeeded. Sadly I never hear people talk about the books and I haven’t read the rest but it kinda hooked me even though it probably isn’t a Pulitzer Price winning book. The last one probably is the hitchhiking guide through the galaxy, these are the funniest books I ever read and I hold on to them dearly for there stories made me laugh and think about life and myself and these two things are what I love to do most.

Loved your episode yesterday with Brian, Tom! I think you and I are in the same age range because of Harry Potter fondness. I actually attended a Deathly Hallows party at a Borders during the release . I really don’t think we’ll ever witness a spectacle like that ever at a bookstore again.

Fablehaven's brilliant stuff. Bartimaeus really is dark, by middle grade/YA standards without quite treading into the horror genre. ASOIAF is the series that got me into adult fantasy too! Read it in 2010/2011 when hype was starting to build for A Dance with Dragons, and soon as I was done I wanted more, and started Wheel of Time. And since then fantasy's easily been 75-80% of the books I go through every year. Great video!

Oddly enough-I didn’t read much in school. I would always improvise to get a B on book reports just assuming where stories would go 😂… that said I really wish I grew a love for reading fantasy at a younger age, considering my love for LOTR movies. It’s great to hear what pulled you in! It tells me what I missed out on. Those Fablehaven books definitely Caught my eye when first watching your videos

My gap was little bit longer, but I picked reading back up in 2020. My 10 year old is reading Tom Sawyer right now and loving it. Jack London was my favorite author growing up and I just re-read White Fang and Call of the Wild earlier this year. I think they hit on different notes, but Call of the Wild is the better book IMHO. I read a bit more outside of that, but it was mostly whatever was required for school. Maybe 1-2 per year of my choosing. I started back up with Sanderson and now I'm averaging 3 books a month, trying to up that to 4.

I always get slightly sad when I hear people talk about their magical Harry Potter experience, because I was born just a few years too late to join that hype lol. Still my OG favourite though, even with missing out on the releases. Also, I love that you have Twilight on here and I desperately need that re-read project to happen now 🤣
