So, today we are out and about walking in the village and civil parish of Lympstone, which is located in East Devon, England. The village has a population of around 1,750. Lympstone has it's own railway station. The parish church is the Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
Seen in the video is the harbour which is on the estuary of the River Exe. Also seen from a distance near the harbour is Peter's Tower, a red brick clock tower built around 1885 by W.H. Peters as a memorial to his late wife and also for the long standing tradition of residents drying their washing on the foreshore.
As this morning's walk was on a week day, there was only a short window of time before commuter and school traffic would start building up which in turn meant that this walk is not really at our usual slower pace and camera style, so please bear this in mind - thanks.
See if you can spot a super fast squirrel during the walk!
Thanks for walking with me.

Oh you made my day with this Harbour Town walk!!!! Thank you, it was amazing!!!! That beautiful old church & cemetary reminds ne of a New England town. This walk had everything, perfect little lanes, water, complete British buildings, Churches, green fields & narrow streets. Everything I would expect in a perfect ( to me) British Harbour Town. Thank you, this was an unexpected wonderful treasure of a walk!! 🧡🎃🧡🍁🍂🎃🧡

A wonderful contrast to the Cotswold videos. I know that the Cotswolds get more views but Devon is such a beautiful county. The houses like a rainbow of pastel shades. The views of the sea. This reminds me how much I value being able to travel around the UK. The instinct to travel far and experience new cultures is so strong and yet there are these amazing places so close to us. Devon and Cornwall are separate countries really. When I go there, the terrain is that of another world. Thank you for posting this. I hope that you will share more of your travels. I love your style of shooting a walking video and would love to see that style applied to other places. As I was saying to someone else this morning, KZbin has developed a reputation for opinion pieces to the camera but these quiet views of the world give real value to my life and the lives of many other viewers.

You finally walked through a village that doesn't appeal to me at all. 😲 I`m in shock! I am not exactly sure why Lympstone does not do it for me. I watched the video twice to see if it was different the second time around, but no. ( No offense to anyone who lives there ) There is a village in Devon that does appeal to me very much and that is Clovelly, in the north of the county. Maybe because it has more character ( in my opinion) and of course the steep cobbled street towards the harbour is very special. I did see the super fast squirrel run up the tree. What was he in such a hurry for, I wonder.🤔

Hello Eva. If you enjoyed every other walk, then we are not doing too badly :) and I certainly do appreciate your honesty & feedback. Clovelly, is a very pretty little place and most definitely worth adding to the list of places to explore. Was that the squirrel at the very end of the walk? If so, there was another squirrel that run right past me blindingly fast! All the best to you. OAAW

@@OutandaboutWalking I can honestly say I have enjoyed every other walk so far. It`s not anyone`s fault I didn`t like this vllage, it`s just personal taste. Your filming was excellent as usual. And now I will watch the video again, meticulously, because aparently I missed a squirrel! haha 😄

Now I KNOW you're a "daddy long legs", the buildings fly by as if you're jogging; yet it sounds like you've barely stepped up the pace. Wait! Stop! A library window! Fooey. There's not an inch of wasted space in Lymp. Mighty big hug for the harbor looksee, I'm a water girl remember? Canoes, rowers, sails, slalom skier...fisher nowadays outta me son's cigar boat - long and skinny, huge outboard motor, 2 seater, built for speed (kids nowadays) and rough seas; mainly caught hardtails this past summer. THAT'S a much more comforting sound than a beach, the water slapping the ramp, bet the bay smells like engine oil too. Did it? See the kitty? Hunting for fish or bait? Saaay, something new (never the like here), motor and mountain bike parking spaces at Swan Inn. Oh there's Speedy, he still wants his umbrella back, felt safer with you than amongst the mongrels, the biggest without leash. My Sir🕶️, what a deep voice you have! Repeat "morning" for me. Folks expect a gravelly old lady voice coming from me, there are double takes when a soft childlike chatter erupts. Was surprised to hear crows at the church...op op, there's A as in 1 gull. I was hoping the bike path led us back to the water, whoops there's that squirrel again, when the heck are ya gonna return hims poor brella! I uh noticed he led you to the uh cliff, the one that signs were posted as unstable. 🤔

Daddy long legs, here, are spiders, ink pen tip spot for a body, 1-2" legs, ferocious eaters of 🦟s. We had them but they disappeared when geckos took over, no exact complaints as gecks are so fragilely cute and also ferocious eaters of 🦟🪰, the cutie little green tree frogs have teamed with them. It gets busy at night on window pane exteriors of rooms with lights on. We let them eat all they can hold. Ohoh, I'm not saying you're an ink tip spot but you hafta admit your shadow? Is all leg and body, your head is, well, near non-existent. 😁

Good day, Jaclyn. Wow, you have reached Lympstone already, it doesn’t seem that long ago filming it. Yeah, there was definitely a sense of urgency to this one as it was a week day morning and there would imminently be commuters & school run parents using the local streets, hence why it was not in the usual style of filming that we have become accustomed to. There are some really beautiful little fishing villages down in Cornwall which I’m hoping that one day we will get to have a mooch around. The bay didn’t smell of engine oil but more like a mixture of salty seaweed & slightly fishy. What are hardtails? Don’t recall seeing a 🐈. That squirrel was super fast! I didn’t notice that one of the dogs was not leashed. TBH, I wasn’t too sure about this walk, can’t put my finger on it, probably because it wasn’t my usual style of relaxed pace. Unstable cliffs? I didn’t notice any signs. You have summed me up perfectly - longs legs and a little head! Enjoy the rest of your day & thanks for walking with me. OAAW

Grey cat was up against shed where boats drydocked, it's a 🕶️er too, it's scaredy-cat-haul-'ss movement caught corner of me 👀s. There were 2-3 big print signs 👀 at gate entry to cliff field. Common names for this saltwater fish are blue runner, green jack, hardtail, hardtail jack, jackfish, black jack, and bluestripe jack; delicate flavor but can be “fishy”; very fast swimmers, feisty on hook. They tend to chase motor boats for some reason & that's how we catch them, on the fly, stop to fight them onboard, then push the accelerator and throw the line again beside boat. Only once did my son catch what was chasing the hardtails, a tuna. We also that day spotted a sea turtle, big one. He didn't mind us staring at him. Or he was like you 😁 never saw us within inches of him😁.
