Everything variegated (unpopular opinion!), but particularly the bizarre deformed Monstera deliciosas coming out now. I'm not even talking about 'Devil Monster' - I kind of find it cute in a freaky way (still definitely overrated re. the price though) -but anything with "contorta" or "contorted" in the name just looks ridiculously sick to me and they are going for thousands of euros, pounds, dollars whatever. You can achieve the same effect by wrapping the developing leaves of your monstera in cling film or bending them back on themselves and tying them up with rubber bands.

Greetings from California, USA! Been gardening for about 10 years now, but watching your videos inspires me to be a better gardener. This year I have really put in lots of work indoor and outdoor thanks to being excited about gardening again. Keep making great videos and hope you inspire others too!

Hi, and thank you for answering my question about orchids. I agree with you that the last 2 appear to be a dendrobium and a miniature phalenopsis. I know that they grow a bit slower, but I hope you keep us updated on their progress. ❤😊❤

Hello Kristina, thank you for the video. I live in Germany as well and recently registered my business to sell plant products and probably plants in the future as well. Where do you get the square plant pots and the osmocote from? Is that the only fertilizer you use? I appreciate you videos. New follower here 🙋🏻‍♂️
@LeafyLuster
@LeafyLuster 11 ай бұрын
Best of luck to you and your business then! I get those pots off amazon: www.amazon.de/shop/leafy_luster The Osmocote is available on amazon as well but not all different kinds, so I usually go to dehner to get it in person. I also use liquid fertilizer from dehner and typically there is Wormcastings in my soil mixes as well. Of course if I have used osmocote on a plant I will reduce the liquid fertilizer . Have a wonderful day 💚

epipremnoides and Esqueleto are actually different plants. The first is a described species and the second is a registered cultivar name. It was thought to be epipremnoides for a while though
@LeafyLuster

Thank you for clearing that up Ivan 👌, my last update was it's the same thing aka. some people call them Esqueleto cause it sounds cooler and sells better 😅 Now it's back to being different plants. I'm not keeping up very well with the nomenclature changes.

That's so funny I did that recently too 😅😅😅 I'm working on a moss pole video behind the scenes. It looks ridiculous but I hate my poles drying out so quickly 👌Great Tip!

@@LeafyLuster I have only one plant on a moss pole because they dry out way too fast for my liking. However, coco fibre poles from the hardware store help my plants to climb as well if you strap them on with velcro nice and snug. The additional root system would be great but you can’t have it all 😂😂

Nice! Thank you for featuring my question. Those butterflies with transparent wings look so cool. There's a type of terrestrial orchid native to where I live in Australia called a Nodding Green Hood Pterostylis nutans, it has big transparent windows on its flowers that give the appearance of a weird alien baby bird skull thing.

Yes, those absolutely are 'Esqueleto'. You don't need to worry about them being adansoniis. The only similar-looking adansoniis are ssp. laniata and ssp. laniata is diagnostically distinguishable by its deciduous/marcescent petiole sheaths and yours has persistent petiole wings. The leaf shape, fenestration size and the deep grooves over the veins make it quite optically distinctive too. By the way, they are not Monstera epipremnoides and never have been. They used to be known as that based on an error in a botanical garden that got spread. The real Monstera epipremnoides looks nothing like 'Esqueleto'. It's smaller and its fenestrations break through the leaf margin like Epipremnum pinnatum (after which it was named). 'Esqueleto' is a true NOID because it is an undescribed species. It can't be described yet because no one knows exactly where the wild population is (or was). It was collected by a guy called Leopoldo Seidel who didn't take great notes and all we know is that it comes from somewhere in the Brazilian Amazon. Without a type locality, it can't yet be described as a species, so in 2019, when all of this came to light, it was given a cultivar name as a placeholder so that it can be referred to unambiguously (even though, for all we know, it is not a cultivar distinct from the wild form). Another plant with a similar issue is Monstera aff. lechleriana, usually sold as "Monkey Mask" and incorrectly labelled as M. adansonii. That's the one you've got growing on the log. Again, no one knows exactly where it comes from in the wild - it was passed around in collections before absolutely flooding the market in a lot of places in about 2019 and becoming known as "round form" or "wide form" of adansonii, but when grown to maturity, they look very much like M. lechleriana and the inflorescence places them in the lechleriana complex (along with M. egregia and also M. 'Esqueleto') and shows that they are absolutely not M. adansonii. They can also be distinguished from M. adansonii ssp. laniata because they have persistent petiole wings, a generally "crinkly" look when immature and usually downturned margins of the fenestrations, whereas true adansonii generally has flatter, less crinkly leaves and often slightly upturned margins of the fenestrations. They're also much more crinkly than 'Esqueleto' and 'Esqueleto' has slightly more rubbery-feeling leaves rather than the thin, papery leaves of "Monkey Mask" and adansonii ssp. laniata. That warszewiczii is a Goeppertia (formerly classified as Calathea), not a Maranta. I remember, in German, Calatheas are often referred to as Korbmaranthen?? I think your identification of the orchids is correct.

Of course Waleah, on the website I bought them from (nützling24.de) they suggest which beneficiaries to get for the specific pests. So I just went off of that. Hypoaspis Miles: for Gnats & Thrips Phytoseiulus persimilis & Amblyseius californicus: for Spider mites Amblyseius cucumeris: for Thrips & Spider mites
