A muddy and content baby elephant - Khanyisa's evening in the elephant orphanage

Tired and very muddy from a day out with her new family, Khanyisa returned to the orphanage, welcomed by fresh fruit from Reply and welcome baaaaack from Lammie🐑🐑!
One big plus is that we don't have to wash her every night, as the mud is excellent for her skin, and creates natural bug protection as well as sunscreen prepped and ready for the next day! Don't our children wish they could get away with that!? 😆
After some time in the orphanage gardens with Adine and Lammie, Khanyisa guzzled down a well-deserved bottle of milk formula from her friend and care, Reply. It wasn't long before she laid her body down, and drifted off into a deep sleep, feeling safe, protected and very much loved.

I don't know why, but every time I see her, I want to put my arms around her and start baby talking. Probably because she is so cute.

Dear Adine, my husband came home with a book from our thrift store he got for a quarter. It's called "Gray Matter". The minute I saw it I started crying. It's about these elephants standing on balls, painting and doing so many unnatural things they were never meant to do. When I explained how they were taught these tricks he even started to tear up. I just don't UNDERSTAND why people do this to wild animals. I'm so glad you and your folks

It's estimated that 26 million elephants were on the continent of Africa in 1800, and we're having trouble protecting and supporting the last 400k? If Africa can support 26 million elephants alone, I don't see how the African landscape, of all living things, can survive without at least half that amount of elephants regenerating both bush and forest lands.

One of the 1st videos I ever watched was khanyisa playing with giant inner tube. I subscribed and I must say I’ve been hooked on your vids ever since. I feel so privileged to watch this beautiful herd on a daily basis from the uk. Adine and all your wonderful workers I love getting to know you all. Watching the Herd every day puts a smile on my face, but today noticed that the little one has a smile on her face! Some might think elephants have no expressions, but not true. They have individual personalities and can express feelings. Found out just what amazing animals they really are.
