To watch Tokwe and Lundi (#1 and #2) so in sync with each other was really interesting. It’s almost like they’d discussed Khanyisa beforehand - who knows, maybe they did. But, they sure did not want anyone disturbing the baby’s sand bath (probably more to it in ellie world - bonding, maybe?). Tokwe moved Kumbura away when she touched the baby. When Limpopo approached Khanyisa, Lundi cut her off. Lundi continues to keep Kumbura in check, and you could tell Kumbura eventually gets a bit upset about it. But, she has to learn what’s okay and what’s not and even if she doesn’t fully understand, she has to learn to do what those above her in heirarchy tell her to do. That’s just how it works in ellie land and it’s fascinating to watch.

On some recent video...in late May 2021 or early June, one of the videos discusses that. I think 2 videos do. INE video is about the elephant ear...showing their ear canal and the blood vessels behind the ear flaps. On the Lundi or elephant ear video, there is the drop-down description detail (arrow at the right of a video's subject line) that estimates the story of her torn ear. It could have been stuck in or torn by branches or bush. They mention it is a common occurrence to have distinctive ear markings or tears created throughout time. It may have also been an elephant video on how to tell them apart...

Ann Williams I wonder if the elephants find the humans as imposing on their privacy, taking photos and capturing intimate moments. Perhaps a hidden camera and retreat of the herders from full frontal herding surveillance measures is to be considered. Otherwise, this is a zoo with bars.
@annwilliams10734 жыл бұрын
@@SignedOff402 remember all those elephants in this special herd r orphans saved by humans. They have a special bond. Also they r near wild herds & could join them . I think they have plenty of privacy when they want it as they have miles to roam. I know what u r trying to say, but we live in special times with ecotourism on hold due to the pandemic. All these elephants r part of the jabulani lodge I believe. Poaching exists too so I am grateful they r being monitored. The fact that khanysia is alive and thriving is a miracle in itself. She will always b compromised in some way, but herd acceptance & medical care will keep her alive 4 many years. I also follow reteti and dswt. Each one is unique in caring for orphans. 🐘😊

Ann Williams rescued Elephants deserve the same respect and the ability to function without a crowd of observers standing by. The fear of humans with a high powered rifle should not be extinguished as well. Staring in their direction and Pointing anything at the herd, camera or gun, is an intrusion and should be accomplished covertly with drones and hidden cameras. Adine is not going to live forever and we all know how China feels about animal organs, voodoo, extinction and ivory.
