Suzuka Nakamoto (The lead singer of Babymetal) belongs to the largest listed entertainment agency in Japan and is a famous actor (acting in TV, musical, jpop singer,etc) from when child. BABYMETAL was created to make use of her talent in 2010(When she was 13years old). When BABYMETALs' song is voted in popularity by Japanese, 'Akatsuki' usually comes in first place.😀

Welcome to the Foxhole and BabyMetal's metalverse 🦊🤘🌐 I'm glad to see more people getting into this amazing group, wait to hear their early songs and live shows, you have seen nothing yet. BabyMetal is a Japanese metal dance unit created in 2010 under another Jpop/Jrock group called Sakura Gakuin, they had 11 and 12 years old when started this and become independent after 2013, they created their own genre called kawaii-metal mixing Jpop with metal sound and different subgenres along with many more rhythms. Their name is a reference to a new genre and not related to their ages or "baby" faces, is a pun intended play words with "heavy-metal" which sounds similar to "baby-metal". They are: *SuMetal* lead vocalist, now 25. *MoaMetal* scream and dance, now 24. *YuiMetal* scream and dance, former member since 2018. *MomoMetal* scream and dance, she's 20 and is the new official member since April 1st recently. None of them are related. After 2018 you'll see backup dancers performing along with them but none of them are official members, they don't sing, only dance, but that status change recently like i said. I like the progressive metal elements in this song and that heavy nasty breakdown. There's also a reference to Macbeth in the lyrics besides the obvious lines famously known by Snow White tale. This was at BabyMetal Begins - The Other One - Clear Night live at PIA Arena MM, Yokohama, last April 2nd with MomoMetal debuting as the new official third member, she was one of the avengers since 2019 and we're all proud of her, but don't think this as a replacement of YuiMetal, she's like a new incorporation to this group for this new lore and metalverse era. Also the BM logo change, it doesn't have the skull and the heart in the B letter, as well there's only three feathers in the logo unlike four prior to this. The Western Kami Band was in charge of these shows. They performed this at Sabaton's Europe Tour, Asian and Australian Tour, everyone were having a blast with their classic songs and the new ones. They will held a US Tour along with Dethklok next month called Babyklok Tour along with some festivals around such Louder Than Life, Blue Ridge Rock and Aftershock Festival, later they will come back to Europe with another headlining tour ending this amazing year. Nice reaction :) I just discovered BabyMetal about a month ago and I'm totally hooked. Next two I would recommend are 'Headbanger! - Live Legend of '97 concert at Budokan and Megitsune - Music video first and live second. You really can't go wrong with this band, they're incredible!

That's cool. I got hooked in late 2019. I was obsessed with Babymetal for over 2 years. I watched every concert and every video on KZbin. Apart from the obvious ones like Tokyo Dome and Budokan my favorite concerts are Metrock 2015 and Yokohama 2015.

Little known fact, Babymetal was the second band on the mainstage at Sonisphere July 5, 2014. The first band was Tesseract, whom you mentioned. Ijime, Dame, Zettai from that performance is a good song if you want to see them at the start of their careers

Rondo of Nightmare with Mischiefs of God intro Budokan live (highlights the band behind the girls really well, invite only arena, super HEAVY Honorable mentions... Great first reaction and welcome to the BABYMETAL Foxhole.🦊You have just found one of the best and the most entertaining live bands on the planet (they have international awards to prove that is not just my opinion) - although this was the official video, so the audio was dubbed over the live performance video ... they sound even better live. They formed in 2010 so you have a lot of catching up to do. They started as a sub-unit of a school themed J-Pop Idol group called Sakura Gakuin which was set up by the Amuse talent agency as a way to coach and train about a dozen of the most talented girls on their books in all aspects of entertainment (singing, dancing, acting, modelling, writing, stage management, TV presenting etc) with a view to their choosing how they would like to continue their career when they were at school leaving age (15 in Japan). BABYMETAL was the pet project of one metalhead producer who was inspired to experiment with this fusion of Metal with JPop aesthetics after seeing Su-metal (the lead singer) singing with her previous JPop trio and being very impressed with her no holds barred singing style and stage presence - she was only 10 or 11 at that time. He pictured her fronting a metal band and got his chance to work with her when her previous group ended and she joined Sakura Gakuin. In 2013 Su would be 15 and would graduate from Sakura Gakuin (having the school theme it was for girls aged 10 to 15), but it was decided that BABYMETAL should be her vehicle as she furthered her career as a vocalist (not forgetting her two very good and also very talented friends Yui and Moa, their role was crucial to making BABYMETAL original and unique) and should separate from the Idol group to go with her as an independent band in their own right. They are Su-metal (lead vocalist), Moametal and, since the start of April this year, Momometal (backing vocals, harmonies but mainly in charge of dance, leading the audience, getting everybody involved and joining in ... their role is just one of the things that makes them stand out from other bands and it is key to how they control audiences of thousands and have done so from a very early age. The third original member, Yuimetal, sadly left the band in October 2018 having been absent from the stage for the previous 12 months. She had ongoing (and undisclosed) health issues. After Yui left Su and Moa chose to continue as a duo for the next 4 - 5 years through to their 10th anniversary in 2020 and a bit beyond, supported by 3 dancers (the Avengers Riho, Kano and Momoko) taking turns dancing in the third spot. Momoko was the only remaining Avenger from about March 2020 and was finally revealed as the official new third member at concerts on 1st and 2nd April this year where this video was filmed - most of this video came from the second night. BABYMETAL really are unique in that they invented their own genre and their own way of doing things. Do not try to categorise them as just one thing or to put them in any one box. You will not be able to predict them, just expect the unexpected. They don't copy anybody or follow the same format as nearly every other band (as you saw for a start they have brought choreographed dance to metal ... something I absolutely never thought metal needed before I found them). Nobody has been able to do what BABYMETAL do (some have tried, none came close). They are supported in live shows by the Kami Band - some of Japan's very best session musicians, each one of them a world class instrumentalist. There are many people who have played in the Kami Band as they all have their own bands or other commitments and they swap in and out depending on their availability, but the same hard core of about 6 musicians have played the vast majority of concerts and they are the ones you will see in most live performance videos. The Kami Band became the full time support for all live shows at the start of 2014 and have been with BABYMETAL ever since - but only for live shows, they do not record the studio versions. The Kami Band of the West - American musicians - have supported BABYMETAL in the more extended foreign tours since 2019. They have about 60 songs now, each one different to the last, they have songs in virtually every metal genre but will also mix and blend so many other musical styles and genres with the metal. Some songs are good hard metal, some lean towards their pop roots and they do everything in between. 'Mirror Mirror' is not the first time they have dabbled with Prog Metal - they had a full on Prog Metal track (an homage to Dream Theater's 'Dance of Eternity') called 'Tales of the Destinies' on their second album as long ago as 2016 - they have only played that live one time - at the Tokyo Dome in front of 55,000 people in 2016 - they sold it out two nights running and played a completely different set list each night. I am very curious to see the other two songs that you were asked to react to - and when you have seen them we will have another 57 or more to suggest (Jake Muller's list in the comments below is a great start). The official videos are all very good and worth seeing, but they are a live performance act first, live is where you will see and - more importantly - hear them at their best.

Welcome & Thanks from Japan 有難う💛。 BABYMETAL is the best musical phenomenon I have ever experienced in my 67-year-long life. (Before BM, I was a stubborn jazz / funk lover). You can refer to other viewers' comments about BABYMETAL. We say "Japan is the country obsessed by Rock Music". The history is very long and the obsession started in 1966 when Beatles visited Japan and held 5 concerts at Budokan. Speaking of hard rock / heavy metal music, a number of bands started to come to Japan since as early as 1970s : Led Zeppelin / Grand Funk Railroad (1971), Deep Purple (1972), Queen (1975), Kiss (1977), Cheap Trick / Van Halen / Scorpions (1978), Judas Priest (1978/79) and so on. Now, any type of rock can be enjoyed here, especially by many all-female or women-fronted bands (like Lovebites, you have reacted to) . They are daughters of American / European rock, for sure. (Many are grand-daughters in terms of age.) Uh-oh, we also say "Japan is the country obsessed by Jazz". It had started earlier than rock 😄

One of their most interesting features is their ability to mix any music genre with any metal sub-genre. "Mirror Mirror" is one of my favorite songs off their new album, The Other ONE. And yes it's a really interesting mix of prog metal, metalcore, hardcore and a very, very BABYMETAL chorus (the second one actually defines them). Because they are unpredictable. So my first recommendation is always to always expect the unexpected and prepare to be surprised. I second the suggestion for "Ijime, Dame, Zettai) (Live at Sonisphere 2014). Welcome to the happiest place in Metal. 🦊🤘 Babymetal is a Metal Sing & Dance Unit and they have been around since 2010. Su and Moa are original members and the third one, Momoko, recently became their new member after a few years of trying different alternatives. They are really unique in every way, their music is great and each song is distinct. The full Babymetal experience comes from watching their live performances because the choreography is integral to what they do, and also, most people like their live sound even better.

There is really nothing else in the world of music like Babymetal. They are a true one-of-a-kind. It's not uncommon to make the assumption that "Babymetal" is a genre, but Babymetal are the pioneers of style of metal music they call "kawaii metal" (cute metal), which blends Japanese J-pop vocals, dance, and aesthetics with heavy metal music. The group was created by their produced Kobametal, who wanted to introduce metal to a new younger audience and thought that blending metal with J-pop would be a good way to do it. Kobametal chose Su-metal (Suzuka Nakamoto) to be the lead singer, and Yuimetal (Yui Mizuno) and Moametal (Moa Kikuchi) as backup vocalists and dancers (Yuimetal retired in 2018, and Momometal {Momoko Okazaki} became the new third member in April 2023). The group began in 2010 when Su was 12, and Yui and Moa were 10, so they have been performing as Babymetal for over 13 years now (more than half their lives). The have released four studio albums, and done multiple world tours, including currently. Every one of their songs has a unique choreography created for them by their choreographer Mikikometal. Each of their headline shows in Japan is a one time (over two nights) bespoke performance that is never repeated again. This particular video was filmed at Babymetal Begins - The Other One: Black Night & Clear Night in on April 1st and 2nd this year.

Great reaction! This is a pretty recent video, the girls started about 13 years ago at ages 11-12. So you can imagine that their earlier stuff seems even weirder than this at first. To me personally, the mix of Metal music and the clean, poppy vocals is the best thing that ever happened in music. And in BABYMETAL's case, all the other facets of their shows are awesome as well (musicianship, choreography, stage designs, costumes, stage presence, crowd participation...). It's simply the most complete package of entertainment to me. Many of their songs are more playful than this, with elements of Hip Hop, Reggae, Ska, Waltz, EDM, Dubstep, Latin and Indian music and more. All of that is fused with different subgenres of Metal, so their catalogue covers a very wide range of sounds. I would suggest checking out a song called "Headbanger", the version from the "Legend 1997" show is great. It's from 2014 and very different from the one you just heard, but I think you'd be equally fascinated.

BABYMETAL is a Japanese kawaii (cute) metal group that formed in 2010 when the original 3 girls were 11-12 years old (yes,they were very young), and since then have performed with, toured with, or opened for Metallica, Korn, Sabaton, Bring Me The Horizon, Dragonforce, Guns N' Roses, Lady Gaga, Rob Halford of Judas Priest (there's a great youtube video of their performance with Rob at a metal award show), and Red Hot Chili Peppers (there is a youtube video of them performing Gimme Chocolate with RHCP, as well as with Korn, and DragonForce), to name a few of many. They have performed at large metal events/concerts in front of 65,000+ skeptical metalheads in Europe (Glastonbury, Download, Sonisphere, etc), US, and Asia. They are the first Japanese band to perform at Wembley arena in the UK. Also, 20+ awards have been given to them. They have 60+ songs and each one is different from the other, so I hope you give the other songs a try. By the way, they have some really great heavy songs too, and I hope you like guitar solos, as well as bass and drum solos, like I do, because they have them too. Great first reaction to Babymetal. They are definitely one of a kind. Don't know what other recommendations you have but it would be interesting to see you guys work backwards, so something like Monochrome next, and work all the way back to their first single Doki Doki Morning. They formed in 2010 when the lead singer Su was 12 years old and Moa and Yui (former memeber) were 11. The new third member Momo officially joined the band this year (even though she had been touring with them for a while before becoming offical). Looking forward to more.

BabyMetal began in 2010 there were Suzuka Nakamoto age 12 Moa Kikuchi and Yui Mizuno (Yui left in 2018 due to health reasons). Both Moa and Yui were 11 years old iifriends and classmates who attended an idol school/group (Sakura Gakuin) founded in 2010 by Amuse Talent Agency for girls 10 to 15. Themed around school life (they attended regular school as well) the girls would learn and train at vocals, dancing, public speaking and etiquette, etc., graduate at age 15 and then move onto whatever entertainment path they chose or that suited their talents. Key Kobayashi was a music producer for Amuse and heard Suzuka sing at age 9 and was impressed with her strong vocals and stage presence. Kobayashi was a fan of heavy metal but believed that the genre had become stale and tired (especially in Japan) with metal bands getting old Kobayashi believed the genre needed to be reborn (BabyMetal means the birth of a new metal genre). Kobayashi felt that Suzuka had the ability to front a metal band and that her vocals and presence could withstand the metal guitars and drums. The fusion of Jpop and Metal began. He placed Moa and Yui as backup singers/dancers and a phenomenon was about to result. At first Amuse showed no interest and the girls had only financing from Kobayashi. They performed at strip malls and small venues using clothes borrowed from friends and family. No money for a real band they had friends dressed in homemade skeleton costumes pretending to play instruments to a backtrack. They became a sensation (these young ladies paid their dues). Amuse saw the potential and in 2012 hired the best session musicians Japan had to offer (The Kami Band) who tours with them today (now includes world class musicians from the USA for tours outside of Asia). BABYMETAL are performance art. This is from their latest album, which is absolutely excellent. They do festivals and aren’t really an idol group or an actual band, or even a produced “girl band”, but they are something to behold and love. Their equal in the real music world today are Hanabie. They also have a new album out last week and both are on rotate and repeat for me at the moment.

They aren’t a band, that’s true, but they aren’t a traditional Idol group in any way, and given they use live musicians to make great music, it’s difficult for people to grasp how they aren’t a band. It would be fairer to say they are Suzuka Nakamura and guests every time they perform, from a traditional point of view.
